New Cards

Glaring Spotlight |
|
Starting Price: $2 | |
Thoughts: Quite a narrow hoser. Grafdigger's Cage was a much more robust hoser, and we saw that card plummet in price after release. I suspect Glaring Spotlight will be a $0.50-$0.75 bulk rare shortly after release. People are just excited about a new ability (the ability to turn off hexproof), even though there are plenty of other ways to work around the ability that already exist. |

Merciless Eviction |
|
Starting Price: $3 |
|
Thoughts: Selling for $4+ on eBay right now, but I'm not a believer in this card. Sweepers generally have to hit multiple card types or have a big advantage tied to the sweeping in order to work at six mana. Versatility isn't what gets six-mana sweepers done—compare Austere Command (which lets you sweep two things) against Catastrophe (Armageddon or Wrath of God). I think this will end up going down to the $1.50-$2 range and mainly see casual play. |

Molten Primordial |
|
Starting Price: $0.50 |
|
Thoughts: "Haste; When Molten Primordial enters the battlefield, for each opponent, take control of up to one target creature that player controls until end of turn. Untap those creatures. They have haste until end of turn." Bulk rare. Unlike Diluvian Primordial or Sepulchral Primordial, there are better options that exist in Magic for taking all of your opponent's creatures (Insurrection comes to mind immediately) if that's the effect you're looking to get in red. |

Thespian's Stage |
|
Starting Price: $6 |
|
Thoughts: Sheldon Menery has talked about cards that are auto-includes in Commander decks. Thespian's Stage is one such card—there are few (if any) Commander decks that would not want to run this card. In addition, Thespian's Stage has Constructed applications (is it better than Vesuva in Urzatron?). I expect the foil version of this card to command a high premium and the regular version to hit $10 before it starts going back down in price. |

Firemane Avenger |
|
Starting Price: $4
| |
Thoughts: We're close to being sold out of Firemane Avenger, and people are really excited about playing Boros, thanks to newer cards being spoiled for the guild (Boros Charm and Legion Loyalist in particular). |

Giant Adephage |
|
Starting Price: $4
| |
Thoughts: Dropped this a dollar, due to slow sales. |

Stolen Identity |
|
Starting Price: $2
| |
Thoughts: I still believe that cipher cards are going to be good in Standard, but it may take time for them to catch on. Until then, I've adjusted the price down on both this and Undercity Plague by 25% due to current demand—but I will be watching sales on this card (and Undercity Plague) very closely! |
