SCG Open Series Preview: Kansas City

If you think you have the courage, the heart, and the brain, come on out to the StarCityGames.com Open Series in Kansas City, Missouri this weekend!

We’re off to see the Wizard! And while I don’t think we will be in Kansas anymore, we will be in the City of Fountains this weekend for one of the last Open Series events before the Invitational in Atlanta, Georgia!

If the StarCityGames.com Open Series in Washington, D.C. proved anything, it’s that both Standard and Legacy are wide open. While Reanimator was the top dog in terms of top finishes last week, it was completely off the radar a few weeks ago. And in Legacy, where anything is possible, an Epic Storm big enough to transport you to Oz took the trophy after Silenceing the opposition. Can combo decks continue to control the metagame, or will something new come along and knock them from their roosts? Come on down to KC to find out!

There’s no place like home, so click your heels three times to find yourself at our home this weekend, the Kansas City Convention Center

KC Venue

In addition to the consessions offered inside the event hall, there are a few options that are open for lunch and also stay open late. Even though I have a few listed here, in a place like Kansas City that’s known for its cuisine (specifically barbeque), it’s good to be on the lookout for hole-in-the-wall locations as well.

This weekend, two wonderful alterists are joining us for our trek down the Yellow Brick Road!

Eric Claar brings his unique style of alters to the StarCityGames.com Open Series. Known for his minimalist "blueprint" style as well as full art pieces, you can check out his work on Facebook and deviantART. For commissions, you can contact him through Facebook or e-mail [email protected].

Hannah Montgomerey will be in attendance as well. While I do not have a bio for her to include here, I am assured she has spectacular work. Be sure to check out her booth!

But what if you can’t attend and want to catch all of the lions, tigers, and bears (oh my!) on camera? With the help of SCG’s resident Goldmeadow Stalwart Cedric Phillips and newcomer AJ Sacher (along with the Lollipop Guild’s very own Glenn Jones), we have you covered! Tune in to @SCGLive and follow the action on Twitter with the hashtag #SCGKC all weekend to stay abreast of all of the news and updates from the floor.

So if you think you have the courage, the heart, and the brain, come on out to the StarCityGames.com Open Series in Kansas City, Missouri!

Good luck, have fun, and your little dog too!
