Sorry, Shaheen Soorani, but your title is being given to its rightful owner -- Ali Aintrazi!
Last weekend's Standard Open in Washington DC was insane. The tournament was won by Gerard Fabiano and his crazy Sultai brew, but you can read about his deck here. Ali might not have gotten as far as Gerard, but he had his own take on Sultai that he used to finish in the Top 8. Clearly these decks have some legs in the new format.
Ali stuck with the Sylvan Caryatid + Courser of Kruphix duo, used alongside Frontier Siege, to develop his mana. From there, he'd start dropping bombs on his opponents, such as Hornet Queen; Garruk, Apex Predator; Pearl Lake Ancient; Ugin, the Spirit Dragon; and Worst Fears! You basically had no idea what type of threat you'd have to deal with.
With cards like Thoughtseize and Hero's Downfall, Ali often had the perfect answer. His sideboard contained numerous cheap answers to specific threats and a suite of additional planeswalkers, should he need them.
Together, Gerard and Ali are making a case for Sultai Control being the current best deck in Standard.
