A trip to the finals is on the line and the winner gets to face Caleb Scherer and Abzan Aggro. Would Vidianto and Esper Dragons advance or would Chris show the power of R/B Dragons?
Vidianto decides on his next play.
Chris started out first to the board with Zurgo Bellstriker that got in for two on the second turn and was followed by a Hangarback Walker that ran into Silumgar's Scorn. Vidianto helped out Justin's cause with Painful Truths for three. Chris turned Zurgo sideways and passed after playing a Polluted Delta. Zurgo kept beating, dropping Vidianto to 9 while Chris simply added another Mountain to his side.
Vidianto finally made a play, dropping Dragonlord Ojutai to hold off the 2/2. Chris fetched up a couple copies of Smoldering Marsh and played Thunderbreak Regent. Vidianto added an Island to his board and passed, sitting on six open lands. Chris sent the Regent into the red zone and Vidianto accepted the trade with Ojutai before using Dig Through Time on the end step and killing the Zurgo with Ultimate Price. With Vidianto's shields down, Chris used Kologhan's Command to shock Vidianto and returned Thunderbreak Regent to his hand.
Vidianto looked for options and decided to go to 4 off another Painful Truths. Chris was able to drop Vidianto to 2 with a Wild Slash before Vidianto discarded to hand size. Both players settled into draw-go until Vidianto looked to gain four life off a Foul-Tongue Invocation with no creatures on the opposing side of the table. Chris tried to burn him out with Kologhan's Command in response, but Vidianto had Scatter to the Winds to go up to 6 after revealing Dragonlord Silumgar. Vidianto untapped and decided on playing Ugin, the Spirit Dragon and hitting Chris for three.
