Finals: Andrew Jessup vs. Noah Walker
Andrew is the No. 1 seed and will be on the play for the finals. Will it be enough to earn him and Elves the trophy or will Noah and Grixis Delver have other plans?
Andrew kicked off the finals with a Nettle Sentinel and attacked for two when Noah had no play. He followed it up with Birchlore Rangers, but Noah responded with a Brainstorm and a Force of Will, pitching Delver of Secrets. Andrew passed, notably without a second land. Noah used his second turn to land Young Pyromancer and passed back.
Andrew battled for two and used a Green Sun's Zenith for zero to get a Dryad Arbor, untapping the Sentinel. Noah used a Gitaxian Probe to see Andrew had three Natural Orders and a Glimpse of Nature, then used Forked Bolt to kill the Arbor and hit Andrew for one. Noah offered the trade by attacking with his Pyromancer and Andrew accepted. Noah played Dig Through Time before damage to get an extra token and passed the turn.
Andrew found a Wooded Foothills and passed, taking three more on Noah's next turn. Noah deployed Delver of Secrets and ended his turn. Andrew simply played a Bayou on his next turn and passed back. Noah flipped his Delver off Ponder and served in with the team and flashed a Force of Will and Spell Pierce to Andrew to cement the win.
Noah 1, Andrew 0
Andrew, on a mulligan to six, opened up with a Green Sun's Zenith for zero, getting Dryad Arbor while Noah passed after dropping a Polluted Delta. Andrew landed a Wirewood Symbiote, played Gaea's Cradle, and resolved Deathrite Shaman. Andrew tapped the Cradle for three and played an Elvish Visionary then activated his Symbiote to bounce the Visionary and played it again, prompting Noah to fetch an Underground Sea and Daze the creature. Noah used the blue mana to Brainstorm before Andrew ended the turn.
Noah's second turn involved him killing the Symbiote with a Lightning Bolt and Submerging the Arbor. Andrew replayed the Arbor and made a Morph creature, before attacking for one. Noah made no play other than destroying the Cradle with a Wasteland. Andrew attacked with his Morph and passed after adding a Misty Rainforest to his board. Noah played another Wasteland and used it for mana, playing Young Pyromancer.
Andrew fetched up a Bayou at the end step and used DRS to drop Noah to 12. Andrew killed the Pyromancer with an Abrupt Decay and knocked Noah down to 8 through combat. Noah Pondered and hit the Bayou with another Wasteland before fetching down to 7 and playing Gurmag Angler. Andrew played a Quirion Ranger and used it with DRS to eat his Abrupt Decay, dropping Noah to 5 before shipping the turn.
Noah fired off a Brainstorm on his next turn and sent a Lightning Bolt at the Shaman so Andrew flipped Birchlore Rangers and combined his efforts to hit Noah for two more with the Shaman before it died. Noah hit the Arbor with a Wasteland and passed. Andrew went for a Visionary but it got Dazed and Noah went on the beat down with his 5/5. Noah added a Shaman of his own to the board and passed.
Andrew cobbled together some action with another Visionary and a second Quirion Ranger. Noah used another Brainstorm to find a Forked bolt that killed the Visionary and Birchlore Ranger. Noah used his Shaman to play a Grafdigger's Cage before passing the turn. Andrew played a Wirewood Symbiote that allowed him to get in for one while bouncing and replaying a Ranger. Noah, however, had another removal spell, this time Darkblast, to kill the Symbiote and he passed the turn with no cards in hand.
Andrew couldn’t assemble any more action so Noah dredged back Darkblast and killed a Ranger, allowing him to bash in with the fish. Andrew found a Heritage Druid, but Noah dredged back the Blast and killed it, allowing him to attack with the Angler. Andrew had no play and passed, prompting Andrew to dredge back the Blast, clear the board, and attack for the win.
