Finals: Greg Smith vs. Hayden Passarelli
Greg looks forward to playing Blood Moons in the finals.
Greg started with a Mountain into Sensei’s Divining Top and Hayden led with a Tropical Island into Delver of Secrets. Greg had another Mountain, topped and passed. Hayden didn’t flip his Delver, attacked for one, but had it Pyroblasted. Hayden landed a Nimble Mongoose and passed. Greg fetched up another Mountain then cast Blood Moon, Hayden tried to Force, but Greg had the Simian Spirit Guide into Pyroblast to trump the counter magic.
Hayden sent the Mongoose into the red zone then passed. Greg played a Grindstone then passed. Hayden dropped Greg to 17 with the Mongoose and passed again with no other play. Greg resolved an Imperial Recruiter and fetched up the Painter’s Servant and passed. Hayden looked at his options before passing knowing what was coming.
Greg topped and cast his Painter, which resolved and named blue. Hayden bolted the Servant at end of turn to avoid the next-turn decking. Greg topped then found another Painter and Hayden scooped them up.

Both players kept six-card hands and Hayden led with a Ponder off a Tropical Island. Greg opened with a Mountain and a Grindstone. Hayden Pondered again and passed with no land drop. Greg played a Spellskite and passed. Hayden found a fetch land and shipped the turn. Greg hit his third Mountain and played an Imperial Recruiter that fetched up a Painter’s Servant before passing. Hayden fetched up a Volcanic Island at end of turn, untapped, played another Wooded Foothills and shipped the turn.
Greg played a Magus of the Moon that resolved, then attacked for one. Hayden played a land and passed. Greg untapped and cast his Painter’s Servant that resolved and named Red. Greg activated Grindstone targeting Hayden – Hayden considered his options, then realized what was about to happen and extended his hand.
