Finals: Josh Cho vs. Kenny Castor
These two friends and SCG Blue teammates would battle it out for the top prize. Would Josh’s Fish be able to defeat Kenny’s tempo menace?
Josh Cho loves Fish today!
Kenny began the action with Misty Rainforest. Josh’s first turn saw him cast an Aether Vial, but Kenny searched Tropical Island to cast spell pierce, which josh dazed, and Kenny dazed right back. And Josh cast cursecatcher once the dust settled. Quite a lot of action for the first turn of a game!
“Oh ho, that’s going to catch all my curses!”
Kenny cast Nimble mongoose and passed. Silvergill adept from josh, revealing maerfolk of the pearl trident, which got a force of will out of kenny’s hand. Cursecatcher beats began, and then on kennys turn he cast ponder and then played wasteland on josh’s mutavault. Josh cast merfolk of the pearl trident on his next turn and attacked Kenny down to 15. Kenny brainstormed, making his mongoose sizeable in addition to being nimble, and followed it up with an attack from the 3/3. He then cast delver of secrets and passed. Josh added a second master to his board and wastelanded kennys volcanic island and dropped Kenny to 6.
Kenny was able to flip his delver with a thought scour on his turn, and then pondered to try to dig into some burn to take care of the incoming merfolk army. He played wasteland and passed. Josh cast standstill and josh swung in with his team. Kenny wastelanded his own island to be able to block but it wasn’t enough and they headed for the post-sideboarded games.
Josh 1, Kenny 0.
Kenny is super excited by his finish, but would like to win just one more match!
Josh kept his opener but Kenny mulliganed. He kept his six though, and led things off with a Misty Rainforest. Josh led with Cursecatcher and passed. Kenny thought hard on turn two, and elected to crack his Fetchland for Volcanic Island to cast Ponder. He shuffled, unable to find a second land, and with no further play passed the turn. Josh cast Merfolk of the Pearl Trident, which Kenny tried to Daze but josh sacrificed the Cursecatcher to counter it. Kenny then Forked Bolted the Lord and passed.
Josh played a Merfolk Rejeerey on his next turn, continuing the stream of beats, and passed. Kenny cast Delver, but had no land and passed having only cast the Human Wizard. Josh Rejeerey’s triggered ability, activating said Mutavault and attacked. Kenny failed to flip and Pyroblasted a Rejeerey with his lonely Volcanic Island. Josh cast Dismembere on Delver, going to 15, and cast Standstill. That was enough for Kenny to see, and he congratulated josh on a good match.
Josh 2, Kenny 0.
