Unfortunately for Wesley, due to a decklist error that was caught between the semifinals and the finals, he received a game loss. He will choose to be on the play for Game 2.
Michael wins Game 1, and leads the finals, 1-0!
Neither player gets to sideboard, as due to the game loss issued to Wesley, neither player gets to sideboard until an actual match of Magic takes place. After a mulligan, Wesley will be on the play to start Game 2.
Wesley leads with a Scalding+Tarn and a pass of the turn. Michael leads with his trusty Turn 1 play, Forest into Elvish+Mystic. Welsey fetches a Mountain and Lightning+Bolts the Elf, keeping Michael from exploding with mana. A land-go by Wesley is followed by two more one-mana Elves from Wesley, but both are also Lightning Bolted by Wesley. On his third turn, Michael once again has two Elves, which gets a thumbs up from Wesley, as he has already used most of his Lightning+Bolts.
A Sleight+of+Hand by Wesley is met with an attack for two by Michael and a deployed Fauna+Shaman. Wesley draws for his turn, and passes, leaving up three open mana. Another attack by Michael, followed by fetching a Spellskite with his Fauna+Shaman, discarding an Eternal+Witness. At the end of Michael's turn, Wesley has a Pestermite, tapping down the Spellskite.
A Serum+Visions, an attack with Pestermite, a land drop and a Blood+Moon is everything Wesley has for his turn. Michael sheepishly plays his Nykthos%2C+Shrine+to+Nyx into his opponent's Blood+Moon, followed by playing an Ezuri%2C+Renegade+Leader and attacking for four damage. A pass of the turn to Wesley, who seems like he is on the ropes.
Michael contemplates his plays!
Wesley starts his turn with a Serum+Visions, but after some thought, passes the turn without any other plays. Michael plays a Forest and activates Ezuri%2C+Renegade+Leader, giving his creatures +3/+3 and trample. Wesley plays a Snapcaster+Mage, targeting Lightning+Bolt, and attempts to kill Ezuri, but Michael pays two life to redirect the Bolt to his Spellskite. A swing with the Elves, and Michael is your Grand Prix Charlotte champion!
