Finals: Rudy Briksza vs. Kazu Negri
Rudy’s deck has stolen the show this weekend, but can his new build of Jeskai Stoneblade win one more match for his second trophy? It won’t be easy as Kazu Negri stands in his way with Elves and is looking for a trophy of his own.
Rudy started with two lands as Kazu opened with a Heritage Druid that attacked for 1, which he followed up with an Elvish Visionary. Kazu kept up the beats as Rudy played land-go and added a Birchlore Rangers and Quirion Ranger to his board. Kazu went for a Wirewood Symbiote, but Rudy finally played a spell, Counterspell.
Rudy played his fourth land and Umezawa’s Jitte. Kazu attacked Rudy to 12 with his team and passed. Rudy used his Pyroblast on a Dryad Arbor to help future delve spells, untapped and slammed a True-Name Nemesis he promptly suited up with the Jitte. Kazu played a Nettle Sentinel and a Misty Rainforest and shipped the turn.
Rudy bashed with the True-Name, using the Jitte to kill a Heritage Druid and a Quirion Ranger. Rudy added Vendilion Clique and saw a hand from Kazu consisting of a fetch land and a Gaea’s Cradle. Rudy let him keep the hand and passed. Kazu played his Cradle and passed back. Rudy got in with his True-Name and his Clique, who was now equipped with the Jitte that allowed Rudy to kill a Birchlore Rangers and a Dryad Arbor. Rudy then used a Treasure Cruise and flashed his hand of three copies of Force of Will to prompt Kazu’s concession of the game.

When Kazu had no action, Rudy untapped and cleared the board with Supreme Verdict, then played another SFM. Kazu replayed his saved Arbor and reloaded the board with a Quirion Ranger, Wirewood Symbiote, and a Nettle Sentinel. Rudy passed with no attack and bounced the Batterskull at Kazu’s next edn step and replayed it via the Mystic.
Rudy found a Council’s Judgment for the Ranger, put the Jitte on the Germ and attacked Kazu to 16. Rudy killed off two creatures and passed back.
