Finals: Tom Ross vs. Ben Friedman
Tom is looking to capitalize on his second straight Invitational Top 8 while Ben is hoping to win to send his prize money to a good cause. Can Tom and his Boss Sligh deck take down the title or will Ben hold him off with his B/W Midrange build?
Ben had Pack Rats, but not enough lands.
Both kept seven and Tom kicked things off with a Rakdos Cackler while Ben had just a Swamp. Tom had an Ash Zealot to knock Ben to 16 off the rip. Ben played a Mutavault and passed the turn. Tom added a Firedrinker Satyr to his board and attacked with his creatures, but Ben had an Ultimate Price for the Zealot and fell to 14. Tom ended his turn with a Mountain and a Dragon Mantle on the Loyalist.
Ben made a Pack Rat and passed with no third land. Tom deployed an Ash Zealot and sent in the team to knock Ben to 6 after no blocks. Ben drew for the turn and played another Pack Rat and passed. Tom sent in everything and just like that the players were going to their sideboards.

Both kept their openers and Ben led with a Temple of Silence, keeping the scry. Tom had a turn-1 Firedrinker Satyr to apply pressure. Ben added a Mutavault and passed the turn. Tom had an Ash Zealot and attacked with both. Ben pondered before deciding to use a Devour Flesh and Tom pitched the Satyr and Ben fell to 18.
Ben played a Swamp and passed. Tom sent in the Zealot and Ben opted to use an Ultimate Price on it and play a third land with no other creature. Ben used the chance to slam a Desecration Demon under no pressure and shipped the turn. Tom added a Mountain and played Rubblebelt Maaka as a 3/3.
Ben smashed in for 6 and dropped Tom to 15 then played a Temple of Silence and used a Bile Blight on the Maaka. Tom played and attacked with a Legion Loyalist and played an Eidolon of the Great Revel and passed. Ben attacked for 6 and dropped an Obzedat, Ghost Council, which was enough for Tom to pick up his cards.

Tom gets in there with his Akroan Crusader.
Tom kept his seven while Ben went down to five. Tom was on the play and got out early with an Akroan Crusader. Ben shocked himself to use a Duress and got to take Dragon Mantle out of Tom’s hand. Tom played an Eidolon of the Great Revel and attacked for 1. Ben missed on land No. 2 and passed back.
Tom played three Legion Loyalists, taking 6 to do so, and bashed with his team. Ben drew for the turn and picked up his deck to go with it as he had seen enough.

Both kept their openers and Ben had a turn-1 Temple of Silence, once again. Tom opened things up with an unleashed Rakdos Cackler. Ben played a Pack Rat on curve and passed. Tom dropped Ash Zealot and sent in the team to knock Ben to 16.
Ben added a Swamp to his mana base then discarded a Whip of Erebos to make a Rat and attack for 2. Tom used a Shock on the untapped Rat, played a Firedrinker Satyr and bashed Ben down to 12. Ben played a Plains, considered his options, then passed with no action.
Tom added an Eidolon of the Great Revel to his side then attacked with his team. Ben blocked the Satyr with his Rat and Ben fell to 8 while Tom went to 17 after the Satyr damage. Ben went to 6 to use an Ultimate Price on the Eidolon. Ben untapped and used a Banishing Light on the Ash Zealot. Tom untapped, put Madcap Skills on the Cackler attacked and used bloodrush from a Maaka and a Titan’s Strength to take the match!
