Modern Challenge Match: Todd Anderson vs. Jacob Wilson
Both players are locked to make Day 2, but the winner gets an important bye in the first round of the single-elimination Standard bracket. Will Todd and Temur Twin get an automatic berth into the Top 8 or will Jacob and Jund get the free win on Sunday?

Jacob, on a mulligan to six, kicked things off by fetching a Swamp and playing Inquisition of Kozilek to take a Serum Visions from Todd's hand. Both players made their second land drop and passed then Jacob fetched a Forest and played Scavenging Ooze as Todd fetched up a Breeding Pool to go with his Steam Vents. Todd untapped and played a Deceiver Exarch, untapping his red source so he could kill the Ooze with a Lightning Bolt.
Jacob's next turn was just a tapped Raging Ravine as Todd attacked for one and played a Grim Lavamancer. Jacob fired up his Ravine and attacked as Todd used the opportunity to play Vendilion Clique on Jacob to see a hand full of lands. Todd took the shot from the Ravine and cracked back for four before playing a Tarmogoyf. Jacob kept his Ravine back after his next draw and Todd shocked Jacob with the Lavamancer at the end of the turn.
Todd started his next turn with Serum Visions and attacked with his Tarmogoyf and Vendilion Clique. Jacob offered no blocks, but killed the Tarmogoyf with Abrupt Decay, and fell to 7. Jacob found Liliana of the Veil on his next draw and used it to make Todd sacrifice a creature, which turned out to be the Exarch. Todd shocked Jacob again at the end of the turn, untapped, attacked for three, and used one more Lavamancer activation to take the first game.

Jacob looks to fight back from a mulligan to five.
Both players quickly threw away their openers and Jacob went down to five as Todd was fine with his six-card hand. Despite the mulligans, Jacob was able to open with a Swamp and Thoughtseize to take Electrolyze from Todd's grip. Todd simply played a fetch land and passed as Jacob fired off another Thoughtseize on his second turn, taking Tarmogoyf before playing a Wooded Foothills and passing. Todd fetched up a Steam Vents at the end of the turn, untapped, and played a freshly drawn Tarmogoyf as Jacob fetched a Stomping Ground.
Jacob did have the answer for the Tarmogoyf, killing it with Abrupt Decay, and passed after playing a Verdant Catacombs. Jacob went land-go as Todd whiffed on his third land and passed back as Jacob searched for an Overgrown Tomb. Jacob passed again after no play and Todd found an Island and played a Pestermite on Jacob's upkeep and tapped his Stomping Ground, but Jacob was still able to play a Tarmogoyf on his next turn, but Todd killed it with Dismember and got in for two. Jacob found a Fulminator Mage and passed as Todd pointed a Lightning Bolt at Jacob at the end of the turn and lost the Steam Vents to the Mage.
Todd attacked for two more and passed, only to lose his Hinterland Harbor to another Fulminator Mage. Todd attacked again and used Serum Visions before passing. Jacob took his draw, but found no answer for the 2/1 and congratulated Todd on the match.
