Quarterfinals: Chris Moyer vs. Todd Anderson
Chris and his cheering squad are hoping for the semifinals.
Humans and Spirits were two of the most popular tribes in the room today, and each had a worthy champion in this match. Chris Moyer took Humans right through the tournament, racking up wins, while Todd jammed Dungeon Geist after Dungeon Geist into his opponents.
Todd kept his seven, and Chris did the same reluctantly. Seachrome Coast but no Delver for Todd, while Chris had Plains and Champion of the Parish. An Island and nothing on Todd’s second turn, Chris adding another Plains and his key enchantment, Honor of the Pure, to the field. Snapcaster Mage gobbled up Champion of the Parish when it attacked, Ambush Viper-style.
Drogskol Captain gave Todd his first offense, but Chris was quick to retaliate with Mirran Crusader. Another Drogskol Captain let Todd draw first blood, putting Chris to 17, but he’d be under pressure on the next turn. Mirran Crusader ate an eight-point chunk from Todd’s life total after a second honor resolved, but Todd had a plan.
On the next turn, he swung for lethal. Dungeon Geist for president, indeed.

After a long day, Todd's only got one more match.
A quick keep from Chris, and Todd also had an acceptable seven. Seachrome Coast and Doomed Traveler started the beats, but Todd fired back quickly with Delver of Secrets and Darkslick Shores. Predictably, no blocks meant a point from Traveler got through, and two more Doomed Travelers joined the party.
Todd immediately flipped his Delver thanks to Lingering Souls, and fell to 17 for a Gitaxian Probe revealing two Plains and Geist of Saint Traft—trouble! Todd Pondered next, shuffling the deck before placing Glacial Fortress. He attacked for 3 damage, and ended the turn tapped out.
Swinging back, Chris put Todd to 14 and landed Geist, but it wasn’t long for this world. Phantasmal Image trade with the legend, and Ponder gave Todd more options, including a Snapcaster Mage—he kept the top three, and returned fire with his Aberration.
Still ahead for now, Chris attacked Todd to 11 and played Moorland Haunt. Todd attacked back to even the score, playing Lingering Souls and passing turn with a blue mana up. Haunt made a Spirit during his end step, and Todd had no blocks, taking 4 damage and dropping to 7 life. Chris played his fifth land, and Todd had no Snag during the end step.
Todd swung for 5 damage and flashbacked Lingering Souls, leaving two mana up for safety’s sake—he had lethal via Drogskol Captain already in his hand, and Vapor Snag would lock things up for sure. Todd fell to 4 life when Chris attacked, but a sixth land merited no action. Untapping, Todd aimed the Snag at the Spirit, free of Mana Leak, and blasted it out of his way, swinging for lethal without needing to cast the Captain.
