Quarterfinals: Kazu Negri vs. Brad Nelson
Two blazingly fast combo decks clash in the quarterfinals. Can Brad help his chances for a run at the Players’ Championship with a win with Sneak and Show or will Kazu show the creator of “Hoof There it is” the real power of the 5/5 beast?
Kazu plans out his opening plays for Game 1.
Kazu kicked things off by ramping into a Dryad+Arbor via Green Sun’s Zenith while Brad led with an Island. Kazu started his second turn with a Glimpse+of+Nature into a Quirion+Ranger then played a Gaea’s Cradle into a Heritage+Druid before passing. Brad simply played a Scalding+Tarn and passed back.
Kazu added to his board with an Elvish+Visionary into a Wirewood+Symbiote followed by another Visionary then went for a Natural+Order, sacrificing the Symbiote. Kazu got a Craterhoof+Behemoth which triggered and also triggered Brad to pick up his cards.

Brad weighs his opener for Game 2.
Brad opened Game 2 with a Grafdigger’s Cage as Kazu started with a Quirion+Ranger. Brad passed after adding an Ancient+Tomb to his board and Kazu played a Birchlore+Rangers into a Cabal+Therapy. Brad responded with a Brainstorm then let the Therapy resolve. Kazu named and hit Ponder, seeing a Sneak+Attack, Griselbrand, and another Cage. Kazu continued with Wirewood+Symbiote and passed.
Brad went to 15 to play a Sneak+Attack after playing his second copy of Ancient+Tomb. Kazu fired back with a Reclamation+Sage that resolved and took out the Sneak+Attack. Brad’s next turn was just the second Cage. Kazu attacked Brad down to 9 and bounced and replayed the Sage to blow up a Cage.
Brad, needing help, fired off a Brainstorm.
“I’m so good at this,” Brad said jokingly as he looked at his Brainstorm.
“That is pretty good,” Kazu responded, considering what permanents to sacrifice to the Eldrazi.
Kazu decided to get rid of everything but the Sage and fell to 4. Kazu attacked Brad to 3 and passed. Brad peaked at his card and played Ponder. He opted to shuffle after seeing no help. Brad bricked on the draw and passed back, falling to 1 on Kazu’s attack. Brad found a Gitaxian+Probe to get one deeper, but when he saw his last card he extended the hand.
