Round 12: Tom Ross vs. Tyler Phelps
Tom Ross and Tyler Phelps met up with both players looking to get into the final portion of Day 2 at X-2. Would Tom ride his patented Boss Sligh deck into the Legacy portion running hot or would Tyler stop the hyper-aggressive strategy with Epser Control?

Tom kept seven and Tyler went down to six. Tom started things off with a Foundry+Street+Denizen. Tyler had a temple and passed. Tom played a Firedrinker+Satyr and another Denizen to get in for 3. Tyler had a Plains and passed with open mana. Tom deployed another Satyr and attacked with the team, Tyler used an Azorius+Charm on the Satyr so Tom responded by using two copies of Titan’s Strength to knock Tyler down to 7.
Tyler played a tapped Hallowed+Fountain and passed. Tom played a Legion+Loyalist and paid the extra one mana for it when Tyler tried to Syncopate it, which triggered the Denizens and attacked for the win.

Both kept seven and Tyler led with a tapped Hallowed+Fountain while Tom had the turn-1 Firedrinker+Satyr. Tyler played a Nyx-Fleece+Ram on turn 2 so Tom suited up his Satyr with a Madcap+Skills to get in for 5. Tyler gained a life then played a temple and passed. Tom sent in the Satyr and Tom pumped the Satyr then tired for a Titan’s Strength, but Tyler had a Dispel for it.
Tyler used a Banishing+Light on the Satyr and passed the turn. Tom had another Satyr and shipped it back. Tyler went to 12 from his Ram and passed after playing another tapped Hallowed+Fountain. Tom put Dragon+Mantle on his Satyr, played his fifth land, passed with no attack. Tyler gained more life with his Ram and used a Supreme+Verdict before playing Elixir+of+Immortality.
Tom slammed a Legion+Loyalist and equipped it with Madcap+Skills and bashed in to drop Tyler to 9. Tyler played a temple and passed. Tom deployed an Ash+Zealot and sent in the team, Tyler responded with his Elixir, but Tom had the Skullcrack to prevent the life gain and drop Tyler to 6 then fell to 2 when he chumped the Zealot with his Mutavault. Tyler drew a card, looked at the board, and extended his hand.
