Round 3: Chris VanMeter vs. Daryl Ayers
Two opposite spectrums of Modern meet up as Chris and Amulet Bloom square off against Daryl and Jund in Round 3. Will the explosive combo deck move on to 3-0 or can the fair deck derail the Amulet train?
Daryl looks to pick apart Chris' hand.
Chris, on the play, opened things up with a Serum Visions, while Daryl fetched up an Overgrown Tomb to play Inquisition of Kozilek, taking Summoner's Pact. CVM fired off Ancient Stirrings on his next turn, finding Gruul Turf and kept digging with another copy of Serum Visions. Daryl didn't have a second land and passed the turn, leading Chris to play an Amulet of Vigor after adding a Tendo Ice Bridge to his mana base of two Gemstone Mines.
Daryl bricked on land again and proceeded to discard a Terminate. Chris played another Stirrings, getting a Simic Growth Chamber, then used Tolaria West to tutor up a Summoner's Pact. Chris passed and Daryl missed on land again, prompting him to pick up his cards knowing Chris had the Hive Mind and the mana to cast it on the next turn.

Chris goes off with Summer Bloom.
Daryl went down to six cards while Chris kept his seven and got to start the game with Leyline of Sanctity in play. Daryl did have a Fulminator Mage on Turn 3, destroying Chris' Simic Growth Chamber, setting him back two turns. Chris rebuilt with a Gemstone Mine to play a Serum Visions and Daryl found gas in the form of Dark Confidant. Chris played another Visions and picked up his Mine for a second Growth Chamber.
Daryl flipped an Abrupt Decay and bashed for two before passing with four lands untapped. Chris resolved Azusa, Lost but Seeking and played a Vesuva, copying Raging Ravine and a Gruul Turf, bouncing the Mine again. Daryl killed the creature with the Decay, untapped, flipped Inquisition of Kozilek, and attacked. Daryl finished his turn by adding Tarmogoyf to speed up his clock.
CVM opened his next turn with an Amulet of Vigor and played a Thragtusk, gaining five life. Daryl fetched at the end of the turn to Terminate the Thragtusk, leaving Chris with a Beast. Daryl shocked himself to play an untapped Stomping Ground and sent his Tarmogoyf and Raging Ravine into the red zone. Chris took the damage and went to 13.
Chris pondered before leading off his next turn with a Summer Bloom then used a Simic Growth Chamber to create six mana to play a Hornet Queen and attack with his copied Raging Ravine. Daryl took the hit, drew for the turn and showed his hand of discard spells and Liliana of the Veil.
