Semifinals: Brandon Hulings vs. Kazu Negri
Brandon is the top seed and will be on the play for this semifinals matchup. Can Brandon and U/R Delver reach the finals or will Kazu beat him to the punch with Elves?

Kazu was first to land a spell with a Nettle Sentinel, but Brandon had the answer in the form of an end-of-turn Lightning Bolt. Brandon found his threat in the form of a Young Pyromancer and passed the turn. Kazu dropped a Deathrite Shaman and a Dryad Arbor. Brandon untapped and started generating value off the Pyromancer by Brainstorming and making an Elemental. Brandon shuffled away the top two by fetching a Volcanic Island then played a Monastery Swiftspear and made it bigger with a Gitaxian Probe. Brandon continued by killing the Shaman with a Lightning Bolt and sent in his Pyromancer and Swiftspear dropping Kazu to 14.
Kazu drew a card off Elvish Visionary and passed after adding Verdant Catacombs to his board. Brandon used a Vapor Snag on the Visionary and attacked with the team, prompting Kazu to fetch an Arbor to trade with the Pyromancer, but still falling to 7. Kazu played his Visionary again, but Brandon had the Daze, getting an extra token in the process. Kazu showed two copies of Craterhoof Behemoth and picked up his cards.

Kazu led things off with a Green Sun’s Zenith for a Dryad Arbor and Brandon rolled into the red zone with a Monastery Swiftspear. Kazu played a Quirion Ranger and went for a Deathrite Shaman, but Brandon used a Force of Will on it, pitching Delver of Secrets. Kazu continued by playing a Wirewood Symbiote and another Arbor. Brandon found a second Swiftspear and used Forked Bolt on an Arbor and Symbiote, though Kazu saved the land in response. Brandon attacked Kazu down to 14 and passed the turn.
Kazu deployed a Scavenging Ooze then attacked for 1 with the Ranger. Brandon had a Lightning Bolt for the Ooze so Kazu responded by eating a creature to gain 1 before losing it. Brandon kept up the prowess with a Brainstorm and attacked for 6, dropping Kazu to 9. All Kazu could do was attack for 1. Brandon untapped and had a Forked Bolt to target the Arbor and Ranger. Kazu saved the Arbor and lost his Ranger allowing Brandon to Brainstorm and attack with both. Kazu used an Abrupt Decay on one of them and fell to 6.
Kazu replayed an Arbor and passed. Brandon played his third Swiftspear, used a Gitaxian Probe and sent in the team dropping Kazu to 4 after he chumped a Swiftspear with an Arbor. Kazu replayed an Arbor and added a Deathrite Shaman before passing. Brandon deployed a Young Pyromancer and sent in the Swiftspears. Kazu put a DRS in front of one and fell to 3 as Brandon had no other effects. Kazu just added a Wooded Foothills to his board and shipped the turn.
Brandon sent in the team and Kazu traded his Arbor for the Pyromancer while gaining two life with a DRS activation, ending the turn at 4. Kazu opted for a Glimpse of Nature and went to 3 to fetch a Forest to play a Quirion Ranger then used a DRS to play a Nettle Sentinel, untapped his Shaman and replayed his Bayou before passing.
Brandon was no longer able to attack and passed allowing Kazu to go up to 5 with another DRS activation. Kazu found another Decay to kill off a Swiftspear then went to 7 exiling the freshly killed Swiftspear. Kazu kept going up as Brandon had no play once again. Brandon dropped to 12 to fetch a Volcanic Island at the end step following Kazu’s playless turn, untapped and played another Swiftspear as Kazu went up to 11.
Brandon offered no attacks and Kazu began draining him with the Shaman. Kazu dropped Brandon to 8 with the Shaman and passed after playing a Reclamation Sage with no targets. Brandon Pondered, opting to shuffle to get a fresh card, and attacked with a Swiftspear, dropping Kazu to 8 when he offered no blocks. Kazu, now on the offensive, sent in his Sage and Sentinel, dropping Brandon to 6 when he traded a Swiftspear with the Sage and letting past 2.
Brandon went for a Lightning Bolt on the DRS so Kazu responded by dropping him to 4, then to 2, and allowed the Shaman to die. Kazu untapped his Sentinel with a GSZ for another Shaman and passed. Brandon look at another card and scooped up his cards.

Brandon opened the third game with a Grafdigger’s Cage and Kazu started with a Deathrite Shaman. Brandon got rid of the Shaman with a Forked Bolt and ended his turn with a Ponder. Kazu decided on a Quirion Ranger and a Wooded Foothills before passing. Brandon found a Delver of Secrets, his first in the match, then used a Gitaxian Probe to get a look at Kazu’s hand. Kazu opted to attack with his Ranger and drew a card off an Elvish Visionary.
Brandon failed to flip his Delver and shipped the turn with no action. Kazu went for a Glimpse of Nature and Brandon had the Spell Pierce, so Kazu played, so Brandon used a Flusterstorm to keep it from resolving. Kazu attacked for 2, dropping Brandon to 15, played a Gaea’s Cradle and added another Visionary to his team. Brandon flipped his Delver with a Probe, used it and bashed for 3. Kazu did his thing, bouncing and replaying the Visionary then passed after playing a Misty Rainforest.
Brandon knocked Kazu to 10 with his flyer and passed a boatload of mana open. Kazu found a Wirewood Symbiote then attacked Brandon down to 7 with his swarm of elves. Kazu ended his turn by destroying the Delver with an Abrupt Decay. Brandon found no action and Kazu hit Brandon down to 4. Kazu attempted to play a Visionary, but Brandon fetched three times, falling to 1, and played Force of Will. Brandon drew his card for the turn and extended the hand.
