Semifinals: Bryan Scholl vs. James Hames
Bryan brings Mardu to the table while James has Abzan Midrange. Which proven archetype will move on to the finals?

Bryan had a Turn-2 Seeker of the Way on the play while James’ first play was a Thoughtseize on hiss second turn, taking an Ashcloud Phoenix. James used another Thoughtseize on Turn 3 to take another Phoenix and fell to 12 on Bryan’s next turn after he played Brimaz, King of Oreskos. James found a Sylvan Caryatid to soak up some damage, but didn’t have a third land.
Bryan played Hordeling Outburst and attacked in as James had to discard on his next turn after failing to find land No. 3. James knew of the hand of burn from Bryan so he picked up his cards.

Both players led with tapped lands and James fired off a Thoughtseize to kick things off, taking a Glare of Heresy. James ramped up with a Sylvan Caryatid into Siege Rhino while all Bryan could do was send a Lightning Strike at James. James had a follow up Rhino, but he wouldn’t need it as Bryan scooped up his cards after drawing his fourth Goblin Rabblemaster and no third land.

Bryan, on a mulligan to six, started things with a Nomad Outpost while James began the game at 17 with a Thoughtseize off a Llanowar Wastes. James took a Brimaz, King of Oreskos and passed. Bryan deployed a Seeker of the Way as James had his own two-drop, Sylvan Caryatid. Bryan sent in the Seeker and got in for 2, but didn’t have a third land.
James slammed a Siege Rhino and shipped the turn. Bryan sent in his Seeker again, but failed to find land and shipped the turn. James attacked with his Rhino and used a Banishing Light on the Seeker. Bryan finally found his land, a Battlefield Forge and decided to Read the Bones, falling to 10. James knocked Bryan to 6 with his Rhino, played a Courser of Kruphix, and dropped a land before passing.
Bryan chained the Rhino the Rocks and passed the turn. James revealed a Rhino the Courser after cracking a fetch land, attacked with his Courser, and played his Rhino to drop Bryan to 1. Bryan took a look at his top card and extended the hand.
