Semifinals: Tom Ross vs. Devon Oâ€™Donnell
Tom Ross is looking to get back to his second straight finals in an Invitational after winning the Season Two Invitational in Columbus. Devon O’Donnell is fighting for a chance to play for the title of Invitational champion and an invite to the Players’ Championship. Can The Boss continue his run with Infect or will Devon ride BUG Delver to the finals?

Neither player decided to mulligan so Tom kicked off the first semifinal by fetching up a Tropical Island for a Glistener Elf while Devon played a Polluted Delta and passed the turn. Tom played an Inkmoth Nexus and a Noble Hierarch and attacked for 2 poison. Devon fetched for an Underground Sea at the end step and Brainstormed. Devon fetched up a Tropical Island and played a Tarmogoyf, but Tom had the Daze.
Tom attacked for two more poison and played a Blight Agent with the Tropical Island he replayed and the Nexus. Devon Brainstormed and played a Deathrite Shaman and Verdant Catacombs. Tom went for a Brainstorm of his own and sent in the Agent for 2 more poison and added another Nexus to his board before passing. Devon Brainstormed again and passed after adding a Verdant Catacombs to his board. Tom tried to fetch but Devon Stifled it so Tom went to activate his two copies of Inkmoth Nexus, but Devon tried to Stifle one of those activations as well so Tom Dazed and Devon fetched and paid for it.
Tom decided to just hit for 2 more poison with the Agent and passed. Devon played a Tarmogoyf and passed the turn. Tom immediately activated both copies of Inkmoth Nexus and Devon scooped up his cards in response.

Devon, on the play this time, led with a Gitaxian Probe to see a couple of Infect creatures, a pair of pump spells, a Noble Hierarch, Spell Pierce, and a Savannah. After the Probe, Devon fetched up an Underground Sea and played a Deathrite Shaman. Tom opted for his own accelerant and played the Hierarch off Savannah. Devon Pondered, choosing to shuffle away the top three, then Pondered again with the use of his Shaman. This time he kept and used a Wasteland to hit Tom’s Savannah. Tom simply played his Glistener Elf and passed back with no other land.
Devon dropped a Delver of Secrets and played another Shaman with his other. Tom played an Inkmoth Nexus and attacked with his Elf and hit Devon for 2 poison. Tom considered his options before passing the action back to Devon. Devon flipped his Delver with Force of Will then went for an Abrupt Decay on the Hierarch, so Tom responded by casting Vines of Vastwood on it by using the Hierarch’s mana ability. Devon attacked for 3 in the air and passed.
Tom sent in the Elf again and hit Devon for 2 more poison. Tom played a Blight Agent and passed back. Devon attacked Tom to 14 with the 3/2 and passed with no other action. Tom found another Nexus and sent in the Agent, when Devon passed priority to Tom he floated a colorless and cast Crop Rotation, sacrificing the Nexus, getting a Tropical Island, then cast Invigorate for free on the Agent, giving Devon 3 life. Devon used Force of Will, pitching Daze to counter it, so Tom put Devon to 6 poison and passed. Devon dropped Tom 12 with the DRS then untapped and attacked him down to 9 with the flyer and passed. Tom sent in the Agent once again and put Devon to 8 poison. Devon sent Tom to 5 at the end step with DRS activations and untapped. Devon went for a Pithing Needle so Tom responded by activating his Nexus and let the Needle resolve. Needle named Misty Rainforest and Devon sent in the flyer so Tom chumped it with the Nexus. Devon passed and Tom sent in the Agent for the win.

Devon, on the play for the last time this match, started with a Delver of Secrets after fetching up an Underground Sea. Tom fetched up a Tropical Island and played Piracy Charm on the Delver to kill it. Devon used a Wasteland on Tom’s Tropical Island and Pondered, opting to shuffle away the top three. Tom played an Inkmoth Nexus and passed back.
Devon played a Tarmogoyf after playing a Tropical Island. Tom played another Nexus and hit Devon for 1 poison. Devon attacked with the Tarmogoyf and used a Wasteland on one of Tom’s lands and passed. Tom Used a Gitaxian Prove to see Devon’s hand with two copies of Toxic Deluge and passed with no second land. Devon attacked and passed. Tom missed on land again so Devon Pondered and bashed with the Tarmogoyf again and played a Deathrite Shaman.
Tom missed on his draw step again and passed back. Devon used a Thoughtseize to take a Ponder and attacked with the Tarmogoyf. Tom played another Nexus and shipped the turn. Devon drained Tom for 2 with the Shaman, untapped and attacked. Tom tried to block with a Nexus, but Devon had Disfigure to kill it and get through for the win.

Tom kicked off Game 4 with a Glistener Elf off a Tropical Island while Devon decided to go for a Gitaxian Probe, but Tom Dazed it. Devon played a Delver of Secrets and passed. Tom attacked with an Elf and played another one. Devon played a Wasteland but tapped it for mana to play a Tarmogoyf after his Delver failed to flip.
Tom Brainstormed then cracked a Misty Rainforest to clear his library of two unwanted cards and get a Savannah. Tom played a Hierarch off the Savannah and passed. Spell Pierce flipped Devon’s Delver and he played another Tarmogoyf and attacked with 3 in the air. Tom Brainstormed again, and played an Inkmoth Nexus and a Blight Agent. Devon went to Ponder so Tom responded by using a Swords to Plowshares on the flipped Delver before letting it resolve.
Devon played a Verdant Catacombs and a Pithing Needle naming Inkmoth Nexus then attacked with a Tarmogoyf that Tom chumped with an Elf. Tom attacked with the Agent and put Invigorate on it but Devon responded with a Disfigure so Tom played Vines of Vastwood with kicker to take the match.
