Pick 4: Being passed a Mulldrifter meant I wanted to be Blue, and Blue/Green can be a little strange sometimes when you mix Elves and Merfolk, so I ignored Lys Alana Huntmaster. It was Stonybrook Angler and Consuming Bonfire, two cards that rank close to me, I choose the Blue one as I'd rather be committed to Blue and have a Lash Out than to be Blue and Red right away.
I finished the first Booster in Blue/White, looking to be Merfolk.
Pick 17: I had a great opportunity to get a powerful Merfolk, but there was an Ajani in the pack too. I think Ajani is too good so I took it over Harpoon Sniper.
Pick 18: Angler over Plover Knights because he's a Merfolk, and as I already had a Mulldrifter and Wellgaber Apothecary I didn't want to have many five-mana spells.
I decided to splash the Lash Out off two Shimmering Grotto, but I regretted it since I drew it all three games and could never cast it. It should have been Triclopean Sight instead.
Round 1 I played against Red/Black Goblins.
I won the first because he had an Island for a splash, and I had two Islandwalkers, and also Avian Changeling and Sentinels of Glen Elendra for extra evasion.
Game 2 I only drew seven spells... the rest was all lands when I died, even though one of them was a Mulldrifter. Ajani turned out to be pretty bad since I had very few creatures in play (one or two), and he also had Squeaking Pie-Sneak to which I had no answer, so it could kill Ajani easily and then me. Add the Lash Out that I couldn't play, and there weren't many spells that were effective. Maybe it should have been Harpoon Sniper instead of Ajani, the white Planeswalkers works a little better in aggro decks.
Game 3 I only drew Islands, and I still had to play eleven agonizing turns trying to survive. I failed.
See you tomorrow!
