Pick 2: Everything's pretty bad except Woodland Changeling, Cloudcrown Oak, and Hornet Harasser. Oak seemed a litttle stronger in power than the other two, and I wasn't that committed to Black to make me pick Harasser.

Pick 4: Moonglove Extract was a fine pick here. It can never be wrong against other medium power cards, but I think Sentinels is good since we can't be waiting for colors much longer, and both Pick 3 and Pick 4 seemed to give the all clear to Blue.

Pick 5: I thought Twig would be okay as Nameless Inversion can be a splash card, but looking back I think Inkfathom Divers would be a better pick.

I ended the first booster settled into Blue, as (fortunately) Pick 3 and Pick 4 hit. I had probably lost a Cloudcrown Oak because I saw very little Green. With Nameless Inversion plus Moonglove Winnower, and a late Adder-Staff Boggart, I was most likely to end Blue/Black.

Pick 16 was the toughest call in this draft. Maybe it was too greedy to pick Chandra, but I wasn't settled into a second color at that point, and I could still splash the Nameless Inversion. In the next packs, the only Black card I got was Moonglove Winnower, so I thought I could ditch Black and hope for Red.

Pick 19: I feel that Drowner of Secrets is better than Pestermite, not only in Merfolk but in all non-aggro decks. I thought this draft was going to end as a non-aggro build.

Pick 35: I had nothing that exciting to fetch up with either Harbinger. [The two Nameless Inversions don't count? - Craig.]

Round 1 I played against a solid Green/Black half Elf half Treefolk deck.

In game 1 I won a damage race because of Sentinels of Glen Elendra and Islandwalking, by turning his land into an Island. Game 2 I had two Ethereal Whiskergill, so I played Aquitect's Will even without cantripping just to attack hard and fast in the air.

Round 2 I played against Green/Black splash Mulldrifter.

Game 1 he had a very slow start. After the Wanderer's Twig, his first spell was Warren Pilferers on turn 5. Once again, I played Aquitect's Will and did the last points with Ethereal Whiskergill and Deeptread Merrow.

Game 2 he played turn 3 Pestermite. Turn 4 he evoked Mulldrifter and missed a land drop, and turn 5 he missed another land drop but played Wanderer's Twig and Leaf Gilder. He had an Island in play, so my Islandwalkers and Ethereal Whiskergill could attack. I had Aquitect's Will nevertheless, which turned out to be the mvp during both rounds, I drew it all games. I thought the deck was too dependant on Chandra, which surprised me since I never drew it. In this game my opponent was far behind, and with an Island he had very little chance to block. Like I said before, his turn 3 Pestermite was an awful blocker, even for non Islandwalkers.

I thought this deck wasn't good enough to reach the finals, but my round 2 opponent got weak draws both games.
