1st Pick: I wasn’t sure about this one, so I took the most consistent card. Eugene Harvey and Kenji agreed with it.
2nd Pick: This one I really wasn’t sure about. I took the Huntmaster mostly because I just had a good Green deck. Eugene later pointed out that the Pie-Sneak leaves me with the most options since it’s a Goblin and a Rogue, and I now agree with that pick.
This deck ended up reasonable, but not great. It felt like I should’ve got a lot more Green in pack 2, but it just wasn’t there. That may be related to the fact that I played against three Green decks…
Round 1 my opponent had a very fast Kithkin deck. Game 1 he overran me with a curve of Stalwart, Greatheart, Zephyrnaut, Chameleon Colossus, Zephyrnaut, and Skirmisher. Game 2 my draw was quite good, and by turn 6 I had killed two guys with Scarblade, and had 10 elves in play. We didn’t play game 3 because he lost his internet connection.
Round 2 I played against a Green base deck, splashing White, Blue, Black, and Red off a couple of Fertilids. Game 1 I played Huntmaster turn 3, Nath’s Elite turn 4, and Promenade turn 5. He died on turn 6. Game 2 was close until he stopped playing spells on about turn 6. It turned out that his hand contained two Moonglove Winnowers, and he was lacking a Swamp.
My opponent wouldn’t split round 3. Game 1 I mulliganed and kept a two-land hand, going second. I didn’t play a third land until turn 5. Game 2 I kept a two-land hand going first. I didn’t play a third land at all.
Until tomorrow,
Rich
