Rules Tip of the Day: Triggered abilities that trigger at the beginning of a step or phase will only trigger once when then step or phase begins. Even if a secondary trigger condition (designated by the "intervening if" clause) is still true during this step or phase, the ability will not trigger again.

Q: Does Primordial Sage's ability only trigger if a creature is played from your hand? Meaning Sneak Attack or Verdant Succession or any card that puts a creature "into play" would not trigger Primordial Sage's ability?

A: Primordial Sage's ability triggers when you play a creature spell regardless of what zone this card is played from. However Sneak Attack and Verdant Succession effects put creature cads into play without playing them. So Primordial Sage's ability will not trigger.

Q: Will damage dealt to a creature by Pariah's Shield's redirection be prevented by Light of Sanction?

A: Not unless you control the source of this damage. When Pariah's Shield causes the equipped creature to receive damage instead of you it does not change the source of the damage or the controller of this source.

Q: I block my opponent's Phytohydra with a Sinkweed Imp. He says it should make his Plant get a +1/+1; I say it should be destroyed. Who is correct?

A: Your opponent is correct. Phytohydra's ability replaces what happens when the Phytohydra would be dealt damage. Instead of being dealt damage it gets a +1/+1 counter for each point of damage that would be dealt. Because damage is not dealt to it, Stinkweed Imp's ability will not trigger, as that ability triggers when the Imp deals damage.

Q: If I have more than one Torpid Moloch in play, would sacrificing three lands affect all instances of the Moloch, or just one of them? The card says Torpid Moloch loses defender, but I am not sure if that would mean "target" Torpid Moloch or "All" Molochs.

A: When a crd refers to itself by name it means this copy. So no, that will not work. In order for any individual Torpid Moloch to attack you need to sacrifice three lands. Also this ability does not target, it causes the Moloch whose ability you used to lose defender.

Q: If I put multiple Saproling tokens into play at the same time with Scatter the Seeds, and I have Eye of Singularity in play, since the Saproling tokens are not "already in play" do they not die, and can I keep the multiple Saprolings?

A: All three tokens will be end up being destroyed. When Scatter the Seeds resolves, three Saproling tokens will enter play at the same time. This will cause Eye of Singularity's ability to trigger three times. Each time one of these triggered abilities resolves, all other Saproling tokens other than the one that triggered this ability will be destroyed.

Q: I understand that when resolving Gifts Ungiven, you can choose to find fewer than four cards. Does Intuition work similarly? If I play Intuition, can I only search for one or two cards?

A: There is a difference between Gifts Ungiven and Intuition. Gifts Ungiven has you search for cards with different names, where Intuition has you search for any three cards. Because there is a not a stipulation on what cards you must search for with Intuition, you must find three cards if there are at least three cards in your library.

Q: Do the effects from multiple Coat of Arms add up? For example, if I had three Elves and two Coat of Arms, would each Elf get +2+2 from one Coat of Arms and +2+2 from the other, or would only one effect happen?

A: Coat of Arms can be cumulative. if you have two copies in play then each creature in play will get +2/+2 for each other creature that shares a types with it. The example you gave is correct, each of the Elves in play would get +4/+4.

Q: I was in a game this past Friday where someone had out Mana Flare. In a later round, that person who put out the Mana Flare played a Dawn's Reflection on his Mountain. How much mana does he have now from that land? He thought he was entitled to four mana by tapping that one land. I thought he was only entitled to two mana of any color he wanted from that land. Who is right?

A: He is; he will get four mana when he taps this enchanted Mountain. Two of the mana will be Red, the other two, generated by Dawn's Reflection's ability, will be his choice.

Q: I was wondering how Invoke Prejudice works when I do not control a creature. Are all non-artifact creatures that my opponents cast subject to the extra cost?

A: Yes. If you do not control any creatures, then there is no color to share with the non-artifact creature spells that your opponent controls. Because of this your opponent will have to pay X, where X is equal to the converted mana cost of each creature spell, in order for these spells to resolve.
