Chris Richter

Rules Tip of the Day: There is a combat phase in every turn, even if no attacking creatures are declared. If, at the beginning of the declaration of attacker step, no attackers are chosen, you finish that step and skip to the end of combat step.

Q: Can you get Faith's Fetters with Tallowisp's ability?

A: No. Faith's Fetters has the ability "enchant permanent" and you can only search for a card with "enchant creature" when allowisp's ability resolves.

Q: If I have Teysa, Orzhov Scion in play, and I play another one, would they each trigger the second ability of theother?

A: Yes. The triggered ability of each Teysa will see the other go to the graveyard, so you will end up getting two Spirit tokens.

Q: I attack an opponent with Zealous Inquisitor, and he blocks with Stinkweed Imp. If I redirect the one point of damage from Stinkweed Imp to another creature, is that creature destroyed by Stinkweed's ability, or is the Inquisitor considered the source of the damage?

A: Yes, the creature that takes the Imp's damage will be destroyed. This one point of damage is still combat damage that comes from the Stinkweed Imp. The Imp's ability will trigger and destroy whatever creature you targeted with the Inquisitor's ability.

Q: If Copy Enchantment copies a Genju, and the enchanted land goes to the graveyard, can I return Copy Enchantment to my hand?

A: Yes. This Copy Enchantment will be an exact copy, so when the land it is enchanting goes to the graveyard, its ability will trigger. And because when a permanent uses its own name it means "this object," you will return the Copy Enchantment to your hand.

Q: I play Maga, Traitor to Mortals. My opponent tries to counter it with Remove Soul, which I successfully counter with Remand. Can he cast the Remove Soul again, or does Maga resolve as soon as his Remove Soul is countered?

A: He can cast it again. When your Remand resolves, his Remove Soul will be returned to his hand. Before your Maga resolves, he will receive priority again, and he can choose to replay the Remove Soul that was returned to his hand.

Q: When my Kitsune Mystic flips into Autumn-Tail, Kitsune Sage, does that mean I can take any enchant creature that is in play?

A: Yes, you can choose to move any Aura attached to a creature to another creature. Keep in mind that you do not gain control of these enchantments, you are just moving them.

Q: Does Hidden Retreat require the target to actually be dealing damage? I'm wondering if I can use it to put things from my hand back on my library whenever someone plays an instant or sorcery. Specifically, I want to use it in an Enduring Ideal deck, to put enchantments back on my library so I can play them.

A: Yes, that works. You only need to target an instant or sorcery with Hidden Retreat's ability; the targeted spells do not have to have the potential to deal damage in order to be targeted.

Q: If Maddening Wind has several age counters, would they be removed if Maddening Wind was moved to another creature by Enchantment Alteration?

A: No. Attaching Maddening Wind to a new creature will not cause the Age counters on it to be removed. Keep in mind that when its ability triggers may change if it moves to a creature controlled by a different player.

Q: I have a question about Sea Drake's comes-into-play ability. On my first turn, I play Island and Sol Ring. Then on my second turn I play Sea Drake. Will I have to return the Island to my hand?

A: No. Because you cannot legally target two different lands with Sea Drake's ability, the ability will leave the stack and do nothing.

Q: When Humility is in play, can I use Titania's Boon to boost my creatures?

A: Yes. When calculating power and toughness, the effect from Humility is applied before you factor in counters.
