Rules Tip of the Day: Untapping an attacking creature does not remove it from combat or prevent it from dealing combat damage.
Q: When Kindle the Carnage resolves, can you choose to discard no cards at random?
A: No. When Kindle the Carnage resolves, you will have to discard at least one card at random, assuming that you have a card in hand. You can choose to not repeat the process after the first random discard, but you can't resolve Kindle the Carnage and choose to not discard at all.
Q: Can you use Azorius Guildmage to counter Boseiju, Who Shelters All's ability so that the spell they are playing becomes counterable?
A: No, Bosieju's ability is a mana ability that does not use the stack and cannot be targeted or countered.
Q: Can Candles' Glow make Searing Meditation's ability trigger more then once? It seems to me that each point of damage is treated separately here.
A: It can, but it depends on when the damage prevention shields created by Candles' Glow are applied. If all three ara applied to a single event, preventing all three points of damage from a Lightning Bolt (or similar) or three points of combat damage, then you will gain three life as one event and Searing Meditation's ability will trigger once. However, if the three damage prevention shields are applied at different times, then Searing Meditation can trigger more that once. An example of this would be if the damage from a Viashino Fangtail is prevented and then the remaining shields prevent the damage from a Shock. In this situation the Meditation would trigger twice.
Q: I play Warp World and reveal some permanents including Bramble Elemental, Fists of Ironwood, and Flame-Kin Zealot. I choose to have Fists of Ironwood enchant the Bramble Elemental, so four Saprolings will get created. Do all of the Saprolings get the bonus granted by Flame-Kin Zealot?
A: They can, depending on how you choose to stack these triggered abilities. When the Warp World resolves you will end up having three different abilities trigger. As the controller of these three abilities you can determine the order that they go on the stack. If you put the Flame-Kin Zealot's triggered ability on the stack last, then the Saprolings from the other triggered abilities will already be in play, and they will get the +1/+1 bonus.
Q: My opponent uses Diabolic Servitude on a creature, then he plays Shade's Form on that creature, I thought that in sequence Shade's Form would override the removal effect of Diabolic Servitude, but now I'm not sure. What happens when this creature is sent to the graveyard?
A: Both Shade's Form and Diabolic Servitude have triggered abilities that will trigger when this creature goes to the graveyard. As your opponent controls both of these triggered abilities, he can determine they order that they go on the stack and, therefore, the order they resolve. If your opponent puts the triggered ability of Diabolic Servitude on the stack first, followed by Shade's Form's triggered ability, then this creature will be returned to play and the Diabolic Servitude will be returned to his hand.
Q: Will Ivory Mask protect me from City of Brass?
A; No. City of Brass's triggered ability does not target anything; it will deal a point of damage to its controller even if this player cannot be targeted.
Q: I have Mobilization in play. With two Heartstones on the field, what is the cost of making a Soldier?
A: The cost of this activated abiltiy will not be lowered by Heartstone at all; you'll still have to pay 2W. Heartstone's ability lowers the cost of creatures' activated abilities. Mobilization's ability may make a creature, but it is not a creature ability. A creature's ability is one where the source of the ability is a creature, not an ability that puts a creature into play.
Q: I was wondering if Sorceress Queen's ability would affect a creature's enchantment that was on it, such as a Fencer's Magemark. Would the creature keep the +1/+1 from it or would they simply be a 0/2?
A: The static ability of the Magemark is also applied after Sorceress Queen's ability. You can learn more about how to apply effects that affect power and toughness in section 418.5 of the comprehensive rules.
