Rules Tip of the Day: The choice of whether or not to take advantage of a triggered ability that uses the word 'may' is not decided until the triggered ability resolves. If this triggered ability targets, you must choose a target (if there is one available) when it goes on the stack, even if you do not plan on choosing to have the ability do anything.

Q: If I have Thrumming Stone in play and I Quicken a sorcery at the end of someone's turn, can I Ripple the sorcery?

A: Yes. The Ripple ability changes the zone you can play cards from (your library), and when you can play them (when the Ripple ability resolves). When a Ripple trigger resolves, you reveal cards and you can play copies of those cards without paying their mana cost at that time. It does not matter that these cards are sorceries.

Q: Does the first Feast of Flesh cast in a game do one or two damage?

A: Just one. When it is resolving, it is a spell on the stack; it is not in your graveyard yet.

Q: I have Bronze Bombshell and Endless Whispers in play. Bronze Bombshell gets Naturalized. At the end of my turn, Bronze Bombshell will come into play under the control of my opponent. Since he controls it, the Bombshell will trigger, and he will sacrifice it and take seven damage. Where does the Bronze Bombshell end up? Does it hit his graveyard? Do I get it back? If so, will I end up sacrificing it?

A: It will go to your graveyard, since you own it. In the next end of turn step, it will return to play under your control. When it left play, your opponent controlled it, so it doesn't matter whose graveyard it goes to. Your opponent will control the leaves-play triggered ability granted to it by Endless Whispers.

Q: I have a Carrion Feeder, a Lifeline, and a Gleancrawler in play. I sack Carrion Feeder to itself, and it goes to the graveyard. At the end of my turn, what happens to my Carrion Feeder? Does it go to my hand or back to play?

A: It is your choice. As the controller of both of these triggered abilities, you can choose the order that they go on the stack. Whichever of these abilities is put on the stack last will resolve first, and determine where this Carrion Feeder goes.

Q: If I have an attacking Thorn Elemental with a Fireshrieker on it, and it's being blocked by a 7/7, can I choose to deal the first-strike combat damage to the blocker and the normal combat damage to the player?

A: That only works if the blocking creature is still in play when normal combat damage is assigned. If this blocking creature was destroyed by first strike damage, then the attacking Thorn Elemental will not deal any normal combat damage, so you won't be able to choose to assign it to the defending player.

Q: I'm playing a Sliver deck. I have a Ward Sliver out (giving Slivers protection from green) and a Hunter Sliver. Is it possible to use a Mistform, change it to a Sliver to provoke a green creature, and then change it to something else, so the effect takes place?

A: Yes, that works, as long as the Mistform creature is not a Sliver at the beginning of the declaration of blockers step. Protection from green will only prevent a creature from being blocked by a green creature when blockers are declared. If, at the beginning of the delclare blockers step, the Mistform does not have protection from green, then it can be blocked by the provoked green creature. It doesn't matter that it had protection from green earlier in the turn.

Q: I have a Leonin Abunas in play and my opponent plays a Kill Switch. Can the Kill Switch tap my artifacts?

A: Yes. Kill Switch's ability does not target anything. The effect that this ability generates will tap all artifacts in play, even those that cannot be targeted.

Q: In a multiplayer game, what happens when I play Bend or Break?

A: When Bend or Break resolves, starting with the active player, each player will divide the lands they control into two piles and choose an opponent. The chosen opponent will then make the decision as to which pile of lands is destroyed. This can obviously lead to interesting politics, where players attempt to make deals before they choose who decides which pile to destroy.

Q: How does Verdent Force work in Emperor games with a range of influence? Does it see the other players outside my range and do I still get a token? Or does it only get one for each person in the effect's range?

A: Triggered abilities can only trigger when the trigger condition is met entirely within a players range of influence. So this ability will not trigger during the upkeep of a player that is outside of your range of influence.
