Rules Tip of the Day: Creatures tap do not tap when a regeneration ability is used and a regeneration shield is created. They tap when the shield is used and the creature regenerates.
Q: Void Maw is in play, and I use Adarkar Valkyrie's ability and target a creature which is sent to the graveyard during that turn. The creature is removed from the game by Void Maw, and put into the graveyard from the removed from game zone by Void Maw's final ability. Does the creature "remember" that it was targeted by the Valkyrie, and return to play under my control?
A: No. When an object goes from one zone to another, it is treated as an entirely new object. This card that ends up in a graveyard may have been targeted by the Valkyrie's ability earlier in the turn, but is it not the same object.
Q: Can Farseek find a Snow-Covered Plains? I can't tell if Farseek is naming four specific cards or four card types.
A: Farseek refers to land subtypes, not the names of cards. Snow-covered Plains have the land subtype 'Plains', so yes, you can search for one with Farseek.
Q: I need to know if I can target the same creature more then once if I use Thrive?
A: No, you can only target a single creature with a spell once for each instance of the word target.
Q: I attack with a creature. Before blockers are declared, my opponent plays a Plaxmanta, paying G and intending to block. Can I respond to the comes-into-play trigger making his creatures untargetable by Mortifying the Plaxmanta?
A: Yes, that does work. When the Plaxmanta spell resolves, and Plaxmanta enters play, its ability will trigger and go on the stack. Both players will get the chance to play spells and abilities before this triggered ability resolves. You can target your opponent's creatures at this point. And as you are still in the declaration of attackers step, any creature that you remove from play will not be able to block your attacking creatures.
Q: When Isochron Scepter comes into play, you Imprint a card on it. Can you destroy it with a Disenchant before the Imprint trigger resolves, i.e. before its owner can use it?.
A: Yes, the Imprint triggered ability does use the stack and it can be responded to. If you destroy the Scepter before it become Imprinted, then it will obviously not be able to make a copy.
Q: Does Sakura-Tribe Scout allow you to put a land card from the graveyard into play if you have a Crucible of Worlds in play?
A: Crucible of Worlds only allows you to play land card that are in your graveyard; they are not actually in your hand, or treated as such for any reason other than playing them. Sakura-Tribe Scout's ability allows you to put a land card in your hand into play, but these lands cards in your graveyard are not in your hand, so what you want to do doesn't work.
Q: Suppose I have a Clone in play that is a copy of a Bogardan Phoenix. The Clone gets killed and goes to the graveyard. Does it return with a death counter? If yes, does it copy a creature in play, and, if yes, does it get removed if it is killed again?
A: Yes, this Clone will return to play. When a card refers to itself by name it really means ~this object~. So the ability of this Clone will trigger when it goes to the graveyard and it will return to play with a death counter. Keep in mind that it will not automatically return to play as a copy of the Phoenix; you will choose a creature in play to copy when this Clone returns. And if this Clone would go to the graveyard again, it will not be removed from the game unless you copied a Bogardan Phoenix again the second time it came into play.
Q: Regarding Dragon Mask's ability, it says, "... At end of turn, return that creature to its owner's hand." Does that mean even if the creature has gone to the graveyard, or was removed from the game somehow, that it still is forced to return to my hand?
A: No, it is only returned to your hand if it is in play when this delayed triggered ability resolves. If it is in any other zone at that time then it will remain there.
