Rules Tip of the Day: Some objects, like lands, face-down cards, and a few other cards, do not have a mana cost. However, even cards without a mana cost still have a converted mana cost. When the mana cost is undefined, the converted mana cost is zero.

Q: Do I get to draw two cards with the "slowtrips" such as Mishra's Bauble when I have Paradox Haze in play?

A: No. If you have two upkeep steps in a turn, then a delayed triggered ability that triggers in your next upkeep will only trigger in the first one, not in both. Delayed triggered abilities can only trigger once, unless the efffect that creates the ability specifies that the delayed triggered ability exists for a specific duration. The 'slowtrip' ability refers to the next turn, but this is not a duration.

Q: I have Pandemonium in play, and I play Nicol Bolas and choose to deal damage to an opponent, do they discard their hand? Does Pandemonium deal the damage, or does the creature deal the damage?

A: Yes, that works, for the reason you stated. Pandemonium is the source of this ability, but is specifically states that the creature that just came into play is the source of the damage. So Nicol Bolas' ability will trigger when this Pandemonium ability resolves.

Q: How does Storm interact with Suspend? When you play a Suspend card, does it affect Storm when the Suspend ability is played, or when the card goes into play?

A: Using a Suspend ability is not playing a spell, it is taking advantage of a special action. So Suspending a card does not count as playing a spell. When you remove the last time counter from a Suspended card, you play the card, so each Suspend card that is played this turn will up the Storm count by one.

Q: Can Pull from Eternity target cards in your sideboard?

A: No. Cards that are in your sideboard are not in the game at all. Only those cards that started in the game and were put in the removed from game zone by an effect can be targeted by Pull from Eternity.

Q: If I play a spell and then, keeping priority, cast a Split Second spell, does that make the first spell virtually uncounterable?

A: No. After the Split Second spell resolves, players will be able to play spells and abilities again before your first spell resolves. At this point, another player could play a counterspell and target the initial spell.

Q: I have an Eye of the Storm in play, and Bound / Determined is in the Eye. If I play the Bound side when the Eye's ability resolves, what happens to it, given that it is in the removed from game zone from Eye of the Storm? Does the Eye of the Storm still see it?

A: You do not play the actual card Bound / Determined. Eye of the Storm makes copies of all of the cards it has removed and you play those copies. So the original Bound / Determined that was removed from the game will stay where it is and Eye of the Storm will continue to make copies of it.

Q: My opponent attempts to play a Chalice of the Void for 2. In response, I attempt to Stile the ability for the Chalice to come into play with two counters on it. Stifle can counter the Chalice's ability to get counters, correct?

A: No. The first ability of Chalice of the Void is not a triggered or activated ability; it can not be targeted by Stifle. It is a static ability that generates a replacement effect that is applied as Chalice of the Void enters play.

Q: My opponent attacks with Goblin Piledriver and damage is on the stack. I respond with Honorable Passage; he responds with Swords to Plowshares on his Piledriver. Does my Honorable Passage still redirect damage, even though the source has been removed from the game?

A: Yes you can choose the Piledriver as the source of damage to prevent. This is because—even thought the Piledriver is no longer in play—it has assigned combat damage that is waiting on the stack to resolve, and you can choose a creature that has assigned combat damage as the source of damage to prevent.
