Rules Tip of the Day: There is only one official way to mulligan your initial opening hand in a game of Magic. If, for any reason, you do not like your starting hand, you can shuffle it back into your library and draw a new hand of one card less than before. You can repeat this process as many times as you like, each time drawing one card less.

Q: What happens when a Sower of Temptation gains control of another Sower of Temptation? For example, I have Teferi, Mage of Zhalfir in play, and my opponent plays Sower of Temptation targeting it. On my turn, I play Sower of Temptation targeting his Sower of Temptation. Who would control Teferi after that?

A: Your opponent will. When the comes-into-play ability of your Sower of Temptation resolves, you will gain control of your opponent's Sower of Temptation. Even though you now control that Sower, your opponent will be the one that controls its comes-into-play trigger. This is because the controller of a triggered ability is the player that controlled the ability when it triggered. When this triggered ability resolves, your opponent will gain control of your Teferi. This control effect will last as long as that Sower of Temptation remains in play, regardless of who controls it.

Q: I have Brigid, Hero of Kinsdale in play and my opponent has Ivory Mask. When he attacks, can I use the Brigid ability to do two damage to each of his creatures?

A: No. Brigid's ability targets a player, not the creatures that this player controls. You cannot target a player that controls an Ivory Mask with Birgid's ability.

Q: With the card Profane Command, am I required to choose two different options, or may I choose the same option twice? For example, can I choose "target player loses X life" twice?

A: You cannot choose the same option more than once; you must choose two different modes when playing one of the Commands from Lorwyn.

Q: I have a creature with a Runed Stalactite on it. My opponent uses his Amoeboid Changeling to make all creatures lose creature types until the end of turn. How does this interaction work?

A: The effect with the later timstamp will determine what types this creature has. The timestamp of the effect from the Runed Stalactite is set when the Stalactite becomes attached to a creature. The timestamp of the effect from Amoeboid Changeling's ability is set when that ability resolves. As the Changeling's ability resolved last it will determine the creature types of this creature. In other words, it will not have any types.

Q: Ego Erasure causes all creatures controlled by a targeted player to get -2/-0 and to lose all creature types until end of turn. Could my opponent use this card in response to my Fodder Launch, eliminating my available Goblins for the sacrifice?

A: No, you sacrifice a Goblin as an additional cost of Fodder Launch. This will happen when you play the spell, before your opponent will receive priority. By the time your opponent does receive priority to play anything, the Fodder Launch will have been played and will be waiting on the stack to resolve.

Q: What will happens when Haakon, Stromgald Scourge is countered by Delay? After the time counters are removed, can Haakon be played?

A: No. The Suspend effect from normally allows you to play a card when it unsuspends, but this can be altered by other effects that limit what can be played. Haakon's own ability is an example of something like that. Because this Haakon card is not in a graveyard (it's in the removed from game zone) you will not be able to play it when it unsuspends. This Haakon card will then remain in the removed from game zone.

Q: I have a 12/12 Mortivore, and my opponent plays Ovinize on it. Does it become a 0/1 or a 12/13?

A: It will be a 0/1. Mortivore's power- and toughness-setting ability is a characteristic-defining ability. When calculating the power and toughness of Mortivore, you always start with this ability and then apply other effects. This means that the effect from Ovinize will be applied after this characteristic-defining ability, making it a 0/1.

Q: I resolve a Bogardan Hellkite and target my opponent's Crovax, Ascendant Hero and my opponent himself. Does he have to choose to use Crovax's return-to-hand ability before I assign how much damage I deal to each target?

A: No, you choose how to divide the damage from the Hellkite's ability when you put the Hellkite's ability on the stack and choose targets.

Q: I have a Darksteel Forge and a Mycosynth Lattice in play, and I play Humility. Since the Darksteel Forge gives the indestructible ability to my creatures, do they still have it, and why or why not?

A: Your creatures will still be indestructible. Darksteel Forge does not give your artifacts an ability, its effect changes the rules of the game, making them indestructible. Because of this, Humility will not remove this attribute from your creatures.
