MTGCast #152 - Alara Reborn Roundup
"You read it somewhere else, but you heard it here first!"
This Week in Magic
Gavin and Tom are here this week to bring you all you need to know about Alara Reborn after the prerelease tournaments this weekend. Gavin gives us some great tips on Limited (hint, Borderposts are good!), Block Constructed, Standard and even Extended (Cascade is REALLY good). Tom pipes in with some multiplayer and Pauper picks. Check out the full visual spoiler from Gatherer and the set is also live on magiccards.info as well. Gavin is a big fan of the Cascade mechanic and is truly the power-baby of Storm and Ripple and is especially excited at cascading from a Bloodbraid Elf into a Woolly Thoctar in the near future and also explains a few rules about Cascade.
For MTGO news, you can sign up for the Alara Reborn beta and Stronghold has been released! Watch for Tortured Existence decks Pauper players!
What Have We Been Playing?
Gavin is getting ready for Pro Tour Honolulu and Grand Prix's by doing some Limited, Block Constructed and Standard testing. Tom is, as usual, playing some mad Pauper and starting on his limited EDH card pool. Along with a combo of the week of Uril, the Miststalker + Sovereigns of Lost Alara + Runes of the Deus>.
Listener Emails
They are back! Thank you to everyone who emailed in and send any feedback, news, deck ideas, whatever you have to either Tom at pitimp@mtgcast.com or Gavin at lesurgo@mtgcast.com. We read over some listener Alara Reborn picks, thoughts on the Magic-league situation and opinions on the Chris Pikula / new Meddling Mage art controversy.
