MTGCast #174 - Push Button, Receive Bacon
"You read it somewhere else, but you heard it here first!"
This Week in Magic
The Zendikar prerelease has come on and gone this weekend so we have all 249 cards with some discussion of our sealed pools, draft and more. Also, part of the hoopla was the absolute surprise from WoTC with the "Priceless Treasure" cards with a classic Vintage card (think like Black Lotus or Mox Sapphire) replacing the land in packs (likely ~1 in 750 packs) and caused an amazing ripple of news over the weekend. Coming October 1st, WPN organizers will be able to play in a number of their own events. Ben Bleiweiss on SCG talks about the perceived shortages of Zendikar and that is most likely NOT intentional, simply a result of supply and demand (premium SCG article link). The full Oracle and Comprehensive Rules update for Zendikar will be delayed due to Mark Gottlieb battling the swine flu.
What Have We Been Playing?
Tom and Steve had a blast at the pre-release and Tom has fallen in love with Hedron Crab and are looking to get an apartment together. Tom also secretly desires to build a "Battle Cattle" deck with Pillarfield Ox! Eric sees a Tundra and two Force of Wills opened at his event! Bennie Smith with another great article on EDH with Doran, the Siege Tower!
Listener Emails
So.. many.. great.. pre-release.. emails! We will be extending this to next episode as well so everyone gets a turn. Link to the picture of the lucky Mox Sapphire! And a peek at the unbelievable "Great Gatsby" sandwich.

MTGCast News
Tom and Steve had a fun interview with Lee Sharpe at the Minneapolis Zendikar pre-release. Check out the new podcasts on the network, Cards Ahoy and the Stanford game theory class centered around MTG! Congrats to the Mana Pool on episode #100. Another thank you to Magiclifecounters.com for sending some cool life counters to give away (like a Legends Great Wall and Antiquities Ornithopter)!
