StarCityGames.com is pleased to announce our 2010 StarCityGames.com Open Series, the largest independent tournament series in Magic’s history! With fifteen stops and over $200,000 in cash prizes up for grabs, players will have more chances to play and win than ever before.

Two Days, Two Chances to Win!

Each StarCityGames.com Open Series weekend is a two-day event featuring a StarCityGames.com Standard Open on Saturday, followed by a StarCityGames.com Legacy Open on Sunday. Each event offers a total prize pool of $5,000 in cash! The 2010 StarCityGames.com Open Series schedule appears to the right. What Are Open Points?

In addition to a $5,000 cash prize payout, each StarCityGames.com Open now awards Open Points. We will begin awarding these points at the last event we’re running in 2009; the StarCityGames.com Open Series Weekend in St. Louis on December 12-13, 2009.

The player who accumulates the most Open Points throughout the 2010 season will be named the StarCityGames.com Open Series Player of the Year and receive an Unlimited set of the Power Nine!

This player, and everyone else who accumulates enough points during the 2010 season, may redeem them for an invitation (and in some cases, byes) at an all-new, year-end event, the StarCityGames.com Invitational!

The 2010 StarCityGames.com Invitational will take place on December 3-5, 2010 in Richmond, Virginia, where qualified players will compete for $50,000 in cash prizes! See the table to the right for the complete payout.

By Invitation Only!

To receive an invitation to the 2010 StarCityGames.com Invitational, players must accumulate a combined total of 10 Open Points playing in StarCityGames.com Standard and/or Legacy Open events throughout the 2010 season.

On December 3, 2010, we will also offer a series of 32-player single-elimination Last Chance Grinders. The winner of each Last Chance Grinder will automatically receive the 10 Open Points necessary to qualify for the StarCityGames.com Invitational. In addition, Open Points will be awarded down to 4th place, giving more players the chance to earn invites if they have enough cumulative points to push them over the 10-point threshold.

Open Points for the 2010 StarCityGames Open Series will be tracked and accumulated starting with the StarCityGames.com Open Weekend in St. Louis on December 12, 2009, and ending with the final Last Chance Grinder on December 3, 2010. Open Points Acquired in Last Chance Grinders do not count towards the StarCityGames.com Open Series Player of the Year race, but they may still be counted towards the Invitational Bye thresholds. The StarCityGames.com Open Series Player of the Year will be awarded at the Invitational. In the event of a prize split, points cannot be split and will always be assigned to the players based on their final standing.
