Response To Drafting White/Blue In Odyssey/Torment: Why Are You Whining. Ferrett?
Yeah umm... What's up with the whole"Boo hoo, I don't want to get a bye when I draft and they're charging for it"? Do you get pissed when you get a bye in a real tournament? I sure don't.
Unlike most people, I cannot wait for them to start charging for Magic Online. Seriously, I'm so excited. Wanna know why? Because I'm going to make money off it. The players on there right now are so ridiculously bad compared to the guys I play against. This isn't to say that I'm amazing or anything, but at my local store, my playskill is probably at average for the people who play there; online, I rarely lose matches. If they keep the prizes the way they are (four packs for second, eight for first), I can draft as much as I want since I'll keep winning, and sell the virtual singles online.
See, the problem is that I've been on Magic Online since August, and I've grown bored of beating the heck out of players whose playskill doesn't just signify"bad player," but"frickin' idiot." I can understand that being a bad Magic player doesn't make you any less intelligent or a bad person, but some people on there make plays that can only make sense when you take into account that they really are quite stupid.
If you handed me a baseball bat and went,"Beat the hell out of that baby seal," I might do it, but it would get boring and dull after a while. But if you gave me money every time I did it, suddenly it becomes a lot more enjoyable. It's practically guaranteed income. So I won't feel ripped off when I get a bye. I'll be really happy. I'll boot up my laptop and do some work, and then come back to the tournament when my second round starts up.
Every time some idiot rare drafts, every time someone counterdrafts first pick in an eight man (which is wrong on so many levels), I get so pissed because they're clueless, and ruin a draft. Once they start charging for Magic Online, I'll get to make money off their stupidity. Might be an elitist point of view, but it's the truth.
