Randy Buehler Responds To His Critics!
I'm really happy that everyone cares so passionately about my column, the new website, and Magic in general. It's one hell of a great game and I'm glad for all the feedback you're giving us. I'm just sorry I don't have enough time to write up an in-depth discussion of every aspect of these issues.
At first I thought I was just being misread as having claimed that green is the best color in Standard. I can sort of see why I was misread that way... I live in a world where Invasion rotated out nine months ago and I sometimes lose sight of that and fail to speak as precisely as I can. The more I think about this, though, the more I realize there are some interesting, subtle issues buried underneath all the rhetoric.
My current position is that I don't think R&D's plans for green will handicap it, either in tournament play or casual play. If green winds up returning to its former doldrums (for more than a brief window of time), then you guys are fully justified in attacking me. In the meantime, I guess I think you should trust us. If you look at R&D's track record for the last few years, I'd like to think we've earned that trust. (Tru dat - The Ferrett)
