I was wrong yesterday about Morphing at end of turn.
The correct answer is that Morphing breaks the"pass in succession" clause of rule 408.1c (as would playing mana abilities, et al). If you perform one of these actions, priority must be passed to the other player before the phase/step changes.
Sorry for the confusion,
Sheldon
Q: I have no sources of green mana and a Meteor Storm. Can I activate my Meteor Storm by first discarding two cards randomly, and if one of them is a Riftstone Portal, proceed to pay the RG mana cost? If not, can I try again and again until I eventually discard the Riftstone Portal in this way?
A: I have it on good authority that 409.1f will be fixed in an upcoming rules update to say that you have to have all the mana available before you announce a spell or ability - so the answer is no, you can't.

Q: If ten creatures go to the graveyard at the end of combat, can I put ten copies of the triggered ability on the stack - and then, when I next get priority, pass and let triggered ability #1 resolve, untap Goblin Sharpshooter, tap to deal a damage to target player, and repeat ten times? I guess I really just need clarification on what phases happen at the end of combat and when creatures actually go to the graveyard.
I hope that's how it works because that would be pretty cool... And most people don't seem to be thinking of that possibility. thanks. Your answers are very much appreciated. mike

A: It works, assuming you can get your Sharpshooter to survive what killed ten other creatures. After any ability resolves from the stack, the active player gets priority, so you can resolve/activate/resolve/activate, and so on, until you run out of triggers.

Q: I have two morph creatures in play and my opponent has two elves. He plays Harsh Mercy and chooses"elves" so that his creatures don't die. But is there any way to prevent my 2/2s from dying?
A: Any way to prevent them from dying involves a) changing your creatures into Elves or b) naming their face-up creature type and Morphing them before the Harsh Mercy resolves. You can't name"no name" as the creature type.
Q: If I cast Final Fortune at the end of my opponent's turn, do I get one turn after that? (i.e., casting it then is useless) or two turns? And why?
A: Casting it is useless, unless you want to dump the card for some reason. Spells that give you extra turns add them at the end of the current turn (300.6). You'll follow the instruction of card - taking the extra turn after this one - and losing at the end of that turn (unless, of course, you win).

Q: If you use a Longbow Archer from Visions instead of 7th, can it be counted as a Soldier?
Rick Brunschwyler
A: Rick,
You always use the most current wording of a card. By the time 7th edition came out, most creature types had been fixed to fit with current templating. Regardless of the set it's from, Longbow Archer is a Soldier.
