Hi, I have a few questions I was wondering could I have answered.
First, can you Misdirect a Stifle to a land? I know tapping a land to make
mana is an activated ability, but it won't counter it. Could you do this,
and if
so what is the proper way to declare it?
Second, what is the exact ruling for a game if two players have a way
wherein
they cannot be killed via damage, and cannot be decked?
Thirdly, can you Stifle come into play and leave play abilities? I read
somewhere that a triggered ability is made if the words" when" and"if"
are used.
Is this true?
Thank you for your time and help.
Sincerely,
Paul Sung
Hey Paul
1. No, because Stifle needs to have a target spell or ability on the stack,
and mana abilities don't use the stack. You can Stifle a land's non-mana
activated abilities, like Zombie return of Unholy Grotto.
2. Sounds like a draw. The players can either agree to it right there or
play it until time. If they play, they must still play at an acceptible
pace.
3. Yes. Those are triggered abilities.

I have three wizards in my graveyard. In play, I have 1 Imagecrafter. Can I
tap the crafter to make a creature a zombie IN my graveyard and get them
back on top of my library with unholy grotto?
No. Creatures only exist in the In Play Zone; otherwise, they're creature
*cards*. Abilities can only apply to creatures that are in play unless the
ability specifically says otherwise, so your Imagecrafter can't change the
Wizards in the graveyard.
Will a COP:Red stop Sulfuric Vortex? I think it would since its a source but I just wanted clarification.
Yes, it's a red source.
If i have a grave pact in play and i use buried alive, does my opponent have to sacrifice 3 creatures? or is te effect only from play?
No, it's only from play.
I have a quick question here. What does limited mean???
Limited is comprised of different formats where you get a small number of cards and must build a deck out of them, unlike Constructed, where you bring your own deck. Limited formats are Sealed Deck, Rochester Draft, and Booster Draft. Consult the Magic Floor Rules for more details.
DOES PATRON WIZARD.S EFFECT STACK IF THERE ARE 2 OR MORE?(TAP AN UNTAPPED WIZARD YOU CONTROL, COUNTER TARGET SPELL UNLESS ITS CONTROLLER PAYS 1)
No, they're not cumulative. You'd have to tap 2 Wizards (meaning activate Patron Wizard twice) in order to make them pay 2.
And most folks on the internet consider it rude to send email in all caps.
my opponent has an artifact and i summon
Uktabi Orangatan to destroy it. In response to my summoning, he cast Incinerate on my Uktabi Orangatan and claim that Incinerate is an instant and will destroy my Uktabi Orangatan before it comes into play so his artifact will not be destroyed... is that possible? No. The Orangutan must be in play to be a legal target for the Incinerate. That means its coming-into-play ability will already have triggered.
i have decided to build a another u/w/g all size creature deck should the
mana base be 10 islands 5 plains and 10 forest i did it before do you think
it
will work again also i substituted 1land of each for a type of tap land
You can get deck help in the Star City Games forums.
Hi. Thank you for reading and hopefully responding to
this. I have a couple of magic questions:
1) If I Animate Dead a creature that can't be the
target of spells or abilities or a creature with
protection from black, what happens? Do I kee the
creature without the enchantment or does it come into
play and leave play again?
2) If my opponent has 0 cards in her hand, can I use
Funeral Charm during her draw step to make her discard
whatever she drew?
3) Can artifacts tap the turn they come into play?
I've been told that artifacts can but artifact
creatures can't, so I don't know what's correct.
1. Animate Dead never targets the (in-play) creature. That means you can
put it on an untargetable or a creature with Pro Black. In the case of Pro
Black, however, it'll just fall right off as a State-Based effect. It will
stay on an untargetable.
2. Yes. Under 8th Edition rules, the draw happens before anything. Then
players get priority. Because Funeral Charm is an Instant, you can make her
discard.
3. Artifacts can be tapped the turn they come into play. Artifact
creatures can't attack or use abilities that have the tap symbol in them
(just like regular creatures).
This is probbably an old question but I didnt pay
attention to the discussions cuz I stopped playing MTG
when US was released: Can Morphling (that infamous,
ridiculous creature) get a pump to -2/8??? I believe
it should not be allowed cuz its unreal and
ridiculous: how can a creature get a NEGATIVE power???
What should be it??? A creature who not only dont have
any power but also hurt itself??? RIDICULOUS...
Please explain it to me... I wan a DECENT and CLEAR
explanation...
The power is considered 0 for all things other than further changes of its
power, when it's considered -2.
If I have a Lavamancer's Skill on a Blue creature (let's be crazy and say it's a wizard), is the damage dealt when it is tapped blue or red? If I remember correctly it's blue, but I just wanted to make sure.
The damage has no color, but it's from a blue source because the Skill grants the ability to the creature; it's not an ability of the enchantment.
Hi, I was wondering what would happen if I cast a mind's desire with a higher number of copies than cards in my deck? Like if i play a mind's desire with 10 copies and only have 7 cards in my deck left? Would the copies after the 7th just"fizzle"?
Basically yes. You'd try to follow the instructions of the subsequent copies, and nothing would happen because there's no card to remove. You wouldn't lose the game because it's not a card draw (although you'll have to either win this turn or get some cards in your library before your next turn).
moment of silence
It can be played after the Combat Phase has begun because it's an Instant, but it won't have any effect. If you want it to work, you have to play it during your opponent's First Main Phase.
will Contested Cliffs deal damage if u sac from baloth ? (NOTE: THIS IS IN OUR ASK THE JUDGE DATABASE - The Ferrett, amazed at ignorance)
No. The damage only happens if both creatures are in play when the Cliffs' ability resolves.
I just wanted to know If Yavimaya Elder can use his land search ability to
get dual lands? Im not sure because Elder says"basic land cards" and duals
count as two different basic land cards. Its a fine line so I thought I
would ask for a little clarification on it to be sure.
Duals don't count as basic lands. The term"counts as" is now obsolete. A
Taiga is a (non-basic) land that is both a Forest and a Mountain.
And, with 8th Edition Rules, Basic Land is now a Supertype, so it's very
clear what you can get with the Elder: only those cards with the Supertype
"Basic Land"
If I have a kamahl fist of krosa out in play and I make one of my forests a 1/1 creature will it count as a creature for gaea's cradle it says the creature would still count as a land but it is still a creature would it count as a creature or a land or both?
It's a land and a creature. It counts for Gaea's Cradle.
