Q: If I play an unamplified Ghastly Remains, playing it as a 0/0, will it trigger Grave Pact?

A: Yes. It has to come into play before the State-Based Effect can put it into the graveyard because of zero toughness. Grave Pact will trigger.

Q: I was thinking of using Parallel Thoughts with Call of the Wild. Could I use Parallel Thoughts to choose seven creature spells, then activate Call of the Wild's ability and reveal the top card from the cards put aside?

A: No."Revealing" and"drawing" are not the same. Parallel Thoughts only replaces draws, and the cards are in the removed from game zone, not in your library.

Q: I have a question about the interaction between Lodestone Myr and equipment. Does equipment that's attached to a creature actually tap with the creature when it attacks? Or can you tap equipment to power up a Lodestone Myr independently of whether the creature that it is equipping being tapped or untapped?

A: Equipment, like Enchantments, doesn't tap along with the creature. You can tap Equipment attached to the Lodestone Myr in order to pump it up.

Q: Does it matter if equipment, say Bonesplitter, is tapped or untapped? I could equip a tapped Loxodon Warhammer to my creature and still use it because the creature is not tapped, correct? Equipment does not have to be untapped to use its activated ability as far as I can tell.

A: You're right. Unless it says so on the card, Equipment still works if it's tapped. You can Equip a creature with tapped Equipment.

Obviously, if the Equipment itself has a tap ability, you can't activate it. Otherwise, you're good to go. Blinkmoth Well is good for tapping artifacts with activated abilities or artifact creatures before they attack.

Q: Does a Chalice of the Void affect a creature brought into play via Illusionary Mask? Or does Mask circumvent the Chalice, much like it gets around Nether Void or Standstill?

A: Illusionary Mask is an activated ability, so it can't be countered by Chalice of the Void, which counters only spells.

Q: Fiery Gambit + Radiate = ...what, exactly?

A: Chaos. Fiery Gambit is a legal target for Radiate because Fiery Gambit has only one target - a creature. When Radiate resolves, you put a copy of Fiery Gambit on the stack for each creature that's a legal target for a red Sorcery. You then resolve each copy one at a time.

Not that you could end up doing quite a bit of damage to your opponents and decking yourself. If you win three flips, drawing nine cards is not optional.

Q: Lets say that player A has a Black Lotus as his only artifact, and wants to play a Frogmite. I'm assuming that he can announce the Frogmite, setting the amount of mana needed for it at three, than sac the Black Lotus in order to pay the three. I am just not positive of that answer and wanted to double check.

A: You'd be right. Anyway, first you determine the cost of the spell, and that cost becomes locked in (rule 409.1f). Then you can play mana abilities (rule 409.1g), and then once you have enough mana in your pool, you pay all costs (rule 409.1h).

Q: What happens when you cast a Diabolic Tutor when a Shared Fate is in play? Do you still search through your own library or your opponent's? I believe it is still your own, but I want to be sure.

A: You search your own library. Diabolic Tutor is a search, not a draw, so Shared Fate's replacement effect doesn't apply.

Q: Does Damping Matrix ability stop a player from using the abilities of an Oblivion Stone?

A: Damping Matrix prevents activation of either ability of Oblivion Stone, because they're both activated non-mana abilities.

Q: Would Spellweaver Helix allow me to play sorceries on my opponent's turn if I remove two sorceries from his graveyard from the game? To give you a real-life scenario, I remove Stone Rain and Hammer of Bogardan from my opponent's graveyard with Spellweaver Helix, and on his next turn he casts a Hammer of Bogardan. Do I get to copy Stone Rain and target his land?

A: Yes, Spellweaver Helix will let you play Sorceries at times when you wouldn't normally be allowed to play Sorceries.

Q: How does Spellweaver Helix interact with storm cards? Let's say I cast the Helix and target Thoughtcast and Mind's Desire in my graveyard. Then I cast a Thoughtcast (spell number 2 for the turn). When the Helix triggers, I choose to add a copy of Desire onto the stack. Does the copy have storm? If so, how much does it storm for - two for Helix and Thoughtcast, or three for Helix, the Thoughtcast, and the copied Desire?

Finally, what if I play Brain Freeze after this; what would be the storm number?

A: What you're copying is the card and then playing the spell; this is unlike previous things that copy spells (like Storm, which just puts a copy on the stack). If the original has Storm, the copy has Storm. The copied spell counts for Storm, because it's played.

The Desire copy doesn't count itself for Storm; it will generate two copies (plus the original). The Brain Freeze will then generate three copies (plus the original).
