Q: Does Null Rod prevent artifact lands from tapping for mana?
A: Null Rod prevents artifact lands from tapping for mana because they're artifacts, and tapping for mana is an activated ability. Null Rod doesn't have the same text as Damping Matrix, which references mana abilities.
Q: I'm pretty sure this combo doesn't work, but I just wanted to make sure. Let's say you have Pandemonium in play. If you cast Phyrexian Dreadnought, is the Dreadnought in play long enough to trigger the Pandemonium before you would have to sacrifice the creatures with power of twelve or more?
A: Sacrificing the creatures is part of the event that would put the Dreadnought into play; if you don't sacrifice enough, the Dreadnought never comes into play, and won't trigger comes-into-play abilities such as Pandemonium.
Q: Do cards that state"player/opponent shuffles his or her hand/graveyard into his or her library" (like Reminisce, Temporal Cascade, and the like) trigger Psychogenic Probe's ability, or only ones which specifically state"player/opponent shuffles his or her library"?
A: Psychogenic Probe triggers any time a player shuffles his library, whether it's after tutoring, putting cards back in from the graveyard, or just simply shuffling (like due to Soldier of Fortune).
Q: My opponent plays Corrosion while I have an Artifact Land in play. I say it destroys my Land as soon as it comes into play, since my Land has"zero or more" rust counters on it. He claims it dies during my upkeep when I have 1 counter.
A: Your friend is right in this case. The destroy part of Corrosion isn't a continuous effect; it's part of the beginning of upkeep triggered ability. First you put on counters, then you destroy artifacts. The first turn its ability triggers, it will destroy all zero- and one-mana artifacts the opponent controls.
Q: What is the interaction between Nether Void and Goblin Welder? Do I have to pay three more to put an artifact into play?
A: No. Nether Void only applies to spells. Goblin Welder's ability isn't a spell.
Q: With March of the Machines in play, can a player subsequently play an Artifact Land and then tap that land for mana before it goes to the graveyard as a 0/0 creature when the game next checks for state-based effects?
A: No. You take the special action of playing the land, and then you get back priority. Just before you get priority, the game checks SBEs; the land is put into the graveyard.
Q: If I have two Think Tanks in play, and at the beginning of my upkeep I look at the top card of my library and place it to my graveyard. Does the second Think Tank trigger and start again? Is it possible to place the two top cards of my library into my graveyard, or is it just the one effect for no matter how many Think Tanks you have in play?
A: Each Think Tank will trigger at beginning of upkeep, and you'll resolve them one at a time - so you can end up putting two cards into your graveyard.
Q: Does Damping Matrix stop creature regeneration?
A: Damping Matrix stops players from activating regeneration abilities, but it doesn't stop the event of regeneration from occurring. If the regeneration ability was already activated before Damping Matrix came into play, it would still work. Additionally, there are cards such as Clergy of the Holy Nimbus from Legends and Duskworker from Mirrodin, that get regeneration shields as a triggered ability.
Q: What happens if Lightning Coils is destroyed after it has put Elemental tokens into play but before that turn's end phase? Do the tokens remain in play after the end of turn step?
A: The tokens will still be removed at the end of turn (assuming they're still in play), because it's a triggered ability set up by the ability that created the tokens, not a continuous effect.
Q: If a creature under my control that is equipped with Scythe of the Wretched kills an Eternal Dragon, will my opponent have a chance to activate the Dragon's return-to-hand ability before it is put into play under my control? Thanks!
A: Only if it goes to the graveyard during your opponent's Upkeep, because that's the only time he can play the Dragon's ability (says so on the card).
