Q: Hi, My question deals with the new card from Darksteel, Leonin Shikari.
1. I have Lightning Greaves on a second creature
2. I move the Greaves onto Leonin Shikari.
3. In response to me equipping Lightning Greaves, my opponent uses Terror on Leonin Shikari.
May I then use the equip ability on the Greaves again in order to have the equip ability resolve before the Terror and make the Terror fizzle?
A: Yes. The later equip ability will resolve before the Terror. When the Terror goes to resolve, it will be countered because its target is invalid (rule 413.2a).
Leonin Shikari is a major change to Equipment.
Q: My opponent has Platinum Angel in play and I have Epic Struggle in play with more than twenty creatures at the beginning of my upkeep. What happens next?
A: The Epic Struggle ability will trigger and resolve; when it tries to make you win the game, nothing will happen. You can't win the game when your opponent has Platinum Angel in play, and in Magic,"can't" always takes precedence.
Q: Could I still activate my Island Sanctuary if I have a Yawgmoth's Bargain in play?
A: No. Island Sanctuary's effect takes place during the Draw Step, and Yawgmoth's Bargain has you skip the Draw Step.
Q: The question is a fairly simple one. When you attack with both the Gemini Engine and the Fangren Firstborn, what exactly happens? Do you get to choose which triggered ability resolves first or not? Does the Twin token come into play and then get the +1/+1 counter or do the +1/+1 counters get distributed first and then the Twin token will be created? And additionally, will the Twin token get a +1/+1 counter (this I am fairly sure will not be the case, but I'll just ask it anyway).
A: Because you control both triggered abilities, you can put them on the stack the way you want. Only the creatures that are in play when the Fangren Firstborn's ability resolves will get the bonus (rule 418.3b), so you want to put the Firstborn's ability on the stack first and then the Gemini Engine in order to give the Twin the bonus.
Q: I targeted a non-Black creature of my opponent equipped with Skullclamp, with Murderous Spoils. The creature died, and I gained control of the Skullclamp. Of course, the Skullclamp triggered during the resolution of the spell.
Question: Who draws the two cards, and why?
A: The controller of a triggered ability is the player who controlled the ability's source when it triggered (rule 217.6c). Your opponent would draw the cards and you'd get control of the Skullclamp.
Q: My opponent has a Great Furnace and an Atog in play, and I play Reap and Sow with entwine, targeting that Great Furnace. If he sacrifices the Great Furnace to Atog in response, do I still search for a land?
A: No, you don't search. The Reap and Sow is countered on resolution because its target, the Great Furnace, is no longer valid.
Q: I have Darksteel Forge, Platinum Angel equipped with Loxodon Warhammer and Fireshrieker in play, and my opponent casts Murderous Spoils on the Angel. My Platinum will stay alive, but what will happen on its Equipment?
A: Your opponent will gain control of the Equipment. Murderous Spoils will still resolve because its target is still valid.
Q: What if I have Spikeshot Goblin equipped with Sword of Kaldra, will all creatures targeted by the Goblin be removed from the game even if the opponent has Darksteel Forge, assuming all his creatures are artifact creatures? Also what will happen if I target Akroma, Angel of Wrath?
A: Yes. Being Indestructible doesn't prevent permanents from being removed from the game. You can't target Akroma with Spikeshot Goblin because she has Protection from Red.
Q: My opponent has an Iridescent Angel in play. I have Ghostly Flames out. Can I target the Angel with Terminate or does the replacement effect of the Ghostly Flames change the spell to colorless after I cast it, thus making Terminate colorless after it is played?
A: Ghostly Flame doesn't make the spell colorless, it just makes any damage it would deal colorless. You still can't target Iridescent Angel with Terminate.
Q: I activate a Darksteel Brute making him a creature, then have one of my modular men die and subsequently its counters get put on the brute... Does the counter go away at the end of the round when the brute is no longer a creature?
A: No, the counters stay on it even if they're meaningless (rule 212.1b).
Q: If my modular 3 creature dies, can I put the counters on the Blinkmoth Nexus, making it a 4/4 anytime I activate it as a creature? Same goes for Darksteel Brute. Does it work for him, too?
A: Modular's leaves-play ability is targeted, so the target must be a creature when the Modular creature goes to the graveyard in order to be a legal target. If it's not, you can't target it when the trigger goes on the stack. In short, yes you can do that, as long as the Nexus is a creature ahead of time.
Q: I have new Darksteel question: If I use a Myr Landshaper to change my opponent's Forest into a Artifact Forest and then blow it up with Echoing Ruin, will all of the Forests in play be destroyed, or just the Artifact ones?
A: Just any which are artifacts, because Echoing Ruin says"...and all other *artifacts* with the same name. His other Forests aren't artifacts.
Q: If I have 10 tokens on a Darksteel Reactor, can I Dismantle it, and put 10 tokens back on the Darksteel Reactor because it's indestructible?
A: Dismantle will still resolve because the Reactor is a valid target. You follow as much of Dismantle's instruction as you can. There's no removing of counters. You simply put X charge or +1/+1 counters on an artifact you control, which can be the Reactor. You'll have 20 counters, so the Reactor's ability will trigger.
