Q: Since Panoptic Mirror says you can play an imprinted sorcery or instant, can you play an imprinted instant/sorcery imprinted on... say an Isochron Scepter?
A: No, it has to be one of those Imprinted on Panoptic Mirror.
Q: If I have to sac an artifact land to Molder Slug's ability, will Sacred Ground return it to play ?
A: It depends who controls the Molder Slug. If it's your opponent, then yes; if it's yours, then no. Sacred Ground only triggers when a spell or ability controlled by an opponent causes a land to be put in your graveyard from play.
Q: If I have a Power Conduit in play, an Island, a City of Shadows, a Myr Prototype with two +1/+1 counters on it and a Myr Landshaper... can I use the Myr Landshaper to make the City of Shadows into an artifact land, and then use the Conduit to take one of the +1/+1 counters off the Myr Prototype and put a counter on the City of Shadows? If I can do this, does the charge counter that was placed on the land by the Power Conduit act in the same way as a counter placed there by tapping it and sacrificing a creature?
A: Yes, you can use the Power Conduit to remove a counter from the Prototype and put either a charge counter or a +1/+1 counter on the City of Shadows. However, the counters City of Shadows gets are"storage" counters. Charge counters and +1/+1 counters are meaningless to it and won't do anything.
Q: I am aware that you can counter the negative ability of such cards as Eater of Days (when it comes into play, skip your next two turns) that activate when it comes into play using Stifle. However, I was thinking of running this same concept in a green deck with my copies of Rust.
The card has the text"Counter target artifact effect, which must require an activation cost." which seem pretty similar to that of Stifle, just applying it to artifacts. Since it is an old card from Legends, I'm shaky on the errata of the card. Can I play an Eater of Days and then counter its effect using Rust?
A: Here's the latest wording on Rust:"Counter target activated ability from an artifact source."
You can see that it doesn't counter triggered abilities like Eater of Days', just activated abilities.
Q: When I play Paradigm Shift, can I use cards like Rebound or Misdirection to make my opponent remove his/her library from the game and shuffle his/her graveyard into the library?
A: No. Paradigm Shift isn't a targeted a spell, and therefore not a valid target for Misdirection.
Q: I looked up Quicksilver Fountain in the database and found this ruling:
* The land stays an Island until the flood counter is removed, even if Quicksilver Fountain leaves play.
* The timestamp of the land-type-changing ability is set when the triggered ability resolves (so each one has a different timestamp).
My question was what happens if I destroy the Fountain in response to the targeting of the counter placement? Will that land get a counter that makes it an Island, or will it just receive a counter?
A: Once the ability resolves, the land will get a counter and be an Island until the counter is somehow removed, even if the Fountain leaves play. Quicksilver Fountain doesn't have a continuous effect, but two different triggered abilities. If it's not in play at EOT for the second ability to trigger, then it'll probably stay an Island (unless you use Power Conduit to remove the counter).
Q: If there are five creatures in play when Wurmskin Forger comes into play, can I name all creatures as targets and then distribute the counters anywhere when the ability resolves. The way it is worded seems like I can name any number of targets.
A: No. You can only name up to three targets during announcement of the triggered ability (rule 409.1c). You also must decide at that time how you're going to distribute the counters (rule 409.1e).
Q: I was looking at Dream Fighter, and the text does not specify when Dream Fighter and the blocking or blocked creature phase out. Do they phase out before, or after damage is dealt?
A: They phase out before damage is dealt. The ability triggers as soon as blockers are declared.
Q: I control a Darksteel Reactor with nineteen counters on it, while my opponent controls a Platinum Angel. At the beginning of my upkeep, I put the twentieth counter on the Reactor; its"you win the game" ability triggers and resolves, but doesn't do anything because I can't win the game. What happens then? The trigger condition is still true, so it seems like the Reactor would keep triggering forever. How does this affect priority?
A: What you have is an unbound loop, so the game will end in a draw, unless a player can and will destroy either the Angel or the Reactor. The Reactor's second ability triggers; when it resolves, nothing happens. It triggers again. Ad infinitum.
