Q: I attack my tapped out opponent with Eternal Dragon. He blocks with a 6/6 Clockwork Dragon. I say that the dragon dies, as at end of combat it becomes a 5/5 with five damage on it. He says the damage goes away before it becomes a 5/5. Who's right?

A: You're correct. The Clockwork Dragon is destroyed at end of combat, after the triggered ability resolves, because it's a 5/5 with 5 damage. Damage doesn't heal until the Cleanup Step.

Q: When Screams from Within comes back from the cemetery after the creature that it was enchanting is destroyed, when do I have to declare the new target? Can my opponent sacrifice his creature in response?

A: He can only sacrifice it in response to the trigger going on the stack. You choose the creature on resolution of the triggered ability. Screams from Within's triggered ability doesn't target the creature it will eventually enchant. There's no way your opponent can know which creature you're going to put it on, and by the time he knows, it's too late to sacrifice it before the Screams applies.

Q: I have a creature equipped with a Skullclamp, and my opponent plays Akroma's Vengeance. Do I draw the 2 cards?

A: Yes, you do. Leaves play triggered abilities look back to the game state as it was just before the permanents leave play. The Skullclamp and the creature are destroyed at the same time. Skullclamp knows that it was enchanting the creature when the creature was destroyed, so its ability will trigger.

Q: Does a creature equipped with Spellbinder that has an Instant such as Stir the Pride have it's Instant go off before or after damage resolves?

A: Spellbinder triggers on combat damage being dealt. By the time you've played Stir the Pride from Spellbinder, combat damage has already resolved. Your creatures will be bigger, but you won't get the life gain.

Q: When Wrath of God is played, and I have Arcbound creatures and Blinkmoth Nexus in play, can I stack the Modular and Nexus triggers to have the Modular counters go on the Nexus? For example:

Player A casts Wrath of God, destroying Player B's Arcbound Fiend. Player B lets Wrath of God resolve and puts Arcbound Fiend into the graveyard. With the Modular trigger on the stack, he activates Blinkmoth Nexus and puts the counters on the Nexus. Does the modular trigger need a target when it goes on the stack, or does it just need one on resolution?

A: The Modular trigger needs a target when it goes on the stack. If you activate the Nexus in response to the Wrath of God, that's too early, and it will become a creature before the Wrath resolves. If you activate it after Wrath has resolved, that's too late. The Modular abilities will already have tried to go on the stack, found no legal targets, and done nothing.

Q: Does having the Mephitic Ooze dealing zero damage kill a creature that it blocks?

A: No. Zero damage is not damage and will not trigger damage-triggered abilities.

Q: I know that if I win the toss and I forget to declare who's going first before looking at my hand, it's assumed that I'm going first (Magic Floor Rules). What happens if I look before we toss the coin?

A: Then it's assumed that you're going first if you win, and your opponent still has the choice if he wins the toss. You will get a Caution for a Procedural Error-Minor. The action is only slightly disruptive to the tournment.

Q: When I play Tinker, I sacrifice an artifact. Since this has to be completed before Tinker can resolve, the artifact is sitting in the graveyard before the search starts. Between the sacrifice and the search, can I get priority to use something like Soldevi Digger to put the just-sacrificed artifact into my library for Tinker to find?

A: Yes. Tinker's effect isn't targeted, so you can put the spell on the stack, pay the costs, then activate the Digger to put the sacrificed artifact back in your library.

Q: Can I play Betrayal of Flesh to return a creature from my graveyard with a Grid Monitor in play?

A: Yes. Grid Monitor doesn't prevent creatures from coming into play, it prevents you from playing creature spells.

Q: I attacked with Myr Enforcer equipped with Fire Shrieker and Loxodon Warhammer. My opponent blocked with Darksteel Gargoyle. Does the Gargoyle absorb twice the damage? And how does Trample interact with this?

A: The Enforcer will deal damage twice to the the Gargoyle, once during the First Strike combat damage step and once during the normal one because it's still in play for both. Loxodon Warhammer will trigger for each.

The Trample issue is a little trickier. In order to deal damage to the defending player, you have to assign what would be lethal damage, defined as (toughness minus existing damage). Trample doesn't care about what's going to happen, if anything, to the damage later. In the First Strike step, you assign 3 to the Gargoyle and 4 to the player. Because the Gargoyle now has 3 damage on it, you can assign all 7 to the player during the Normal step.
