Rules Tip of the Day: Objects (cards, spells, and permanents) are all of the colors in their mana cost, if there are no colored mana symbols there then they are colorless.

Q: On the card Oni Possession, who does 'your' refer to? The person who played the enchantment or the person who owns the creature the enchantment is attached to?

A: "your" refers to the controller of Oni Possession. If you put this on your opponent's creature then you will have to sacrifice a creature each upkeep and your opponent will have a much bigger creature thanks to you.

Q: Is it legal to target an Artifact Land when using the Hearth Kami ability, since an artifact land seems to have no mana cost at all?

A: Yes. Even though there is nothing printed in the upper right corner of lands, they do have a mana cost of zero. Because of this you can destroy an artifact land with Hearth Kami's ability by sacrificing the Hearth Kami an paying zero mana.

Q: I have Uyo, Silent Prophet in play and nine lands. I play Strength of Cedars, copying it twice, all three instances targeting Uyo. I think that X (on the Strength) is the same for each of the three instances, because the spell is copied and not the card. But how much is X and why? Is X locked in at the moment I play the original Strength of Cedars and remembered later, or is it looked up the moment the Strength resolves?

A: The 'X' in Strength of Cedars is determined when it resolves. If you played the original and then immediately played the two copies then each Strength will give Uyo +5/+5. To maximize the bonus to Uyo, you should play the original Cedars and copy it once. Then, after the copy has resolved but before the original does, you can copy it again. This way the lands that you return to your hand to pay the second copy will be in play and counted when the first copy resolves.

Q: Since the part of Kiki-Jiki's ability that makes you sacrifice the token creature at end of turn it comes after a period, is it right that the token will stay in play if Kiki is sacrificed/killed?

A: No. While that line of text is a separate sentence, the creation of the delayed triggered ability is still part of the effect that creates the token. The token created by this ability will still be sacrificed in the next end of turn step.

Q: Is there any way to get a flipped side of a creature card into play other than meeting the criteria on the card (e.g. Show and Tell, Reanimate, Illusionary Mask, etc.?)

A: No. Anytime a flip card would enter play it enters as the unflipped version. The only exception is when a flipped cards phases out and then phases back into play.

Q: My opponent had Intruder Alarm, Kiki-Jiki, Mirror Breaker and Blinkmoth Nexus in play. He animated his Blinkmoth Nexus, making it a creature and then tapped Kiki-Jiki to make of token copy of the animated Blinkmoth Nexus. He then wanted to continue "going-off" to make an arbitrarily-large number of Blinkmoth Nexus tokens with the Kiki-Jiki, Intruder Alarm combo. Is the token a creature or an un-animated Blinkmoth Nexus (which my opponent could pay one to make into a creature)? And does the Intruder Alarm trigger from the Blinkmoth Nexus token coming into play?

A: The token Blinkmoth Nexus that comes into play is a normal Blinkmoth Nexus that is not a creature, at least yet. It will be a token land. It has the ability to turn into a 1/1 creature, but you must you its ability to animate it. And because this token Nexus is not a creature when it comes into play it will not trigger Intruder Alarm.

Q: I'm at 1 life and I control Underworld Dreams. My opponent is also at 1 life and draws Shock. Can my opponent use the Shock to win the game?

A: Yes. At the beginning of your opponent's draw step he will draw his normal card for that turn. This will trigger Underworld Dreams. This ability, like other triggered abilities, does use the stack. So your opponent can respond to this ability by playing the Shock he just drew and cause you to lose the game before he does.

Q: I was curious about the combination of Spellweaver Helix and the Storm mechanic. If I Imprint a Storm card and another card, say Searing Wind, on the Helix how will it react? Then if I play a cheap spell then the storm card would I be able to play Searing Wind twice?

A: No. Spellweaver Helix's ability triggers when a card with same name as one of the imprinted card is played. A copy of a spell is not a card, so the Spellweaver Helix's ability will only trigger once for the actual played card. It will not trigger any more than that regardless of the number of copies made by the storm ability.

Q: I have Mine Layer in play and my opponent has Zuran Orb. During my turn, I used Mine Layer to place a mine counter on my opponent's Forest. Afterwards, during his turn, my opponent taps the Forest with the mine counter for mana, then he sacrifices it to Zuran Orb. Does he gain two life or was the land destroyed?

A: He will gain two life. Mine Layer's ability is a triggered ability that uses the stack. This land won't be destroyed until this triggered ability resolves. Your opponent can tap this land, and then after the triggered ability goes on the stack he can sacrifice it to activate Zuran Orb's ability before it is destroyed.

Q: I have Planeswalker's Mischief in play. If I play its ability, can my opponent play something in response before he reveals a card that Mischief specifies? If he does, and it was the only card in his hand, does Mischief's ability lose its target or we should use last known info about cards in hand?

A: After you activate Planeswalker's Mischief's ability your opponent can respond by playing spells and abilities before Planeswalker's Mischief ability resolves and he randomly reveals a card in his hand. Mischief's ability targets a player so it will still resolve even if the targeted player has an empty hand. If this was the only card in he hand when the Mischief ability resolves then the Mischief ability will fail to do anything when it resolves. This ability can't use last know information, as it only refers to the targeted opponent's hand when the ability resolves, it does not refer to specific cards other than the one that is eventually revealed.
