Rules Tip of the Day: If when combat damage is assigned all of the creatures that were blocking an attacking creature with Trample are no longer in play, then all of the damage from the attacking creature with Trample will be assigned to the defending player.
Q: If you play Living Death while Ryusei, the Falling Star is in play, does he deal 5 damage to all the non flying creatures that come into play after Living Death resolves or does he do the damage as soon as he's put in the graveyard when there are no creatures in play?
A: Ryusei's triggered ability will go on the stack after Living Death has completely resolved. It will deal damage to the creatures that were in the graveyard but are now in play due to Living Death.
Q: If I have Azusa in play and only two lands in hand, can I play the two lands either as using Azusa's ability and choosing not to play the one land that is my right, or play the land that is my right and one additional land using Azusa's ability (leaving me the option of perhaps playing a second additional land using Azusa's ability if I happen to draw one later that turn)?
A: When you play a land you need to point out which it is; is it the normal land for your turn or one due to Azusa's ability. Regardless of the order that you put these lands into play you will still be able to play three lands during your turn. For example you can put two into play due to Azusa's ability and then play your 'normal' land for the turn.
Q: If I understand Guardian Angel correctly, you can Imprint it on Isochron Scepter because the converted mana cost is 1. Once it is Imprinted, can you use the Scepter to play it, and then prevent damage on a 1 mana-for-1 damage basis?
A: Yes, that works exactly as you described.
Q: I play Final Fortune, then activate the untap ability of Time Vault. Then I tap Time Vault to take an extra turn. Do I lose the game at the end of the extra turn? I think not, because the FF "lose the game" trigger is tied to the turn created by FF, and won't happen if that turn is skipped. This is true regardless of whether I tap the Time Vault.
A: You are correct; you will not lose the game at the end of the turn granted by Time Vault. Final Fortune's delayed triggered ability will only trigger at the end of the turn created by Final Fortune. If you never take that turn, then you won't lose the game due to this effect. It does not matter that you still end up taking an extra turn due to the Time Vault.
Q: If my opponent plays Phage, the Untouchable and I play Wrath of God, then play Second Sunrise, does that kill my opponent?
A: Yes, your opponent will lose the game. Phage's ability will trigger even if she comes into play due to an effect that another player controls.
Q: If you have Phage, the Untouchable in pl;ay along with Endless Whispers and you kill Phage, and put it into play under your opponents control, who loses? Is it you or your opponent? If its your opponent that loses, do you then get to move Phage to any other opponents you may also have, or does the opponent you chose get to choose who phage will come in to play under next?
A: Your opponent will lose the game as Phage comes into play under his control. According to the proposed multiplayer rules, once this player leaves the game the Phage will be removed from the game as well. This means that it's won't go to the graveyard and its Endless Whispers triggered ability won't trigger.
Q: When Alliances was first released, there was this great idea to make a deck with four Soldier of Fortune so that an opponent would concede out of being annoyed. This was declared unsportsmanlike (duh) and forgotten about. I have kept my Soldiers all these years in hopes that I could use them for something worthwhile, and when I saw Psychogenic Probe, I thought that I had found the answer. Here's my question: would it be legal to play a deck with four Psychogenic Probes and four Soldiers of Fortune and cause your opponent to shuffle their library multiple times each turn?
A: Yes, that is legal. Keep in mind that if you are trying to win the game by dealing damage with the Psychogenic Probe, then your opponent may not actually have to shuffle his deck. If the order of your opponent's deck is random and not known at all and the purpose of shuffling his deck is to trigger the Probe, then the actual shuffle need not happen, or if it does it does not have to be that intensive.
Q: How does the Mask Counter ruling affect 0-cost creatures played through an Illusionary Mask? Do the creatures flip up immediately because they lack Mask Counters, or should an effort be made to denote a "virtual Mask Counter"?
A: No it will not flip up immediately. The counter is placed there as a reminder so all players know the amount of mana spent on the Mask's ability, having the counter is not what keeps it face down. It is used to prevent cheating, so you won't have to put any counters on this creature.
