You've seen Guildpact in action; now it's time to see the print runs. I prefer sixty card formats, so I'm not going to offer any analysis for these, making for a short but sweet article.
If you aren't familiar with print runs, here is how they work in Guildpact. Each pack contains eleven commons*; six from the ‘Scissors' print run and five from the ‘Rock' print run. The cards are an in-order slice from the print run, so if you know the print runs then you can tell what people to your sides are taking in draft. For example:
You are in a triple-Guildpact draft, and are passed a pack with Izzet Signet, Orzhov Euthanist, Silhana Starfletcher, Pyromatics, Orzhov Basilica, Skarrgan Pit-Skulk, Lionheart Maverick, Burning-Tree Bloodscale, Crystal Seer, Cry of Contrition, three useless uncommons and a bad rare. Form these remaining commons, you can deduce that the missing card is Pillory of the Sleepless from the Scissors print run.
The print run is a circle, so if you reach the ‘end' then you just continue from the beginning. The ‘Scissors' cards tend to be the best and the ‘Rock' cards tend to be solid; these names originated in the article “An Analysis of Common Print Runs in Champions of Kamigawa (What Every Drafter Should Know About Their Commons)” by Luke Hagerling, Scott Mayer, and myself.
