p2p1 Cohort over Augury Adept - This was very close because of Shield and Liege, and I almost timed out. I could easily see taking Adept here.
p2p8 Skulk over Rider was because I already have a bunch of four-drops.
Round 1 I played against a good player with mono Red. Game 1 I assembled Order of Whiteclay with Armored Ascension and stalled his ground guys with Inquisitor's Snare, Niveous Wisps, and a recurring Seedcradle Witch. Game 2 he kept a one-land hand with Scuzzback Scrapper, Stream Hopper, and Clout. My draw was terrible but I built Hatchet Bully with Ascension to stop his 3/3 Hopper, and he stalled on land far too long to do anything. On a key turn he Ember Galed and got blown out by Snare and Bully.
Round 2 my opponent was mono Black. I really have no idea how this guy won a round, as he played lots of 1/1s and Blight Sickle in both games, and didn't even attack when there was no reason not to. He did play Soul Snuffers and Glen Elendra Liege, so I guess his round 1 opponent could've been manascrewed or something. At any rate, these games were pretty easy.
Round 3 my opponent was mono Red again. Game 1 my draw was kind of slow, but so was his. I played Gyrfalcon turn 4, and then played Ascension on it when he tapped out for Slinking Giant. This put him on a three-turn clock, and I stalled the ground to ensure it got there. Game 2 went on for a while and he was basically out of gas the whole time, but he kept playing 1/1s and killed my Hearthfire Hobgoblin on a key turn. When I finally managed to stabilize he Jaws of Stoned me out. Game 3 I started with Kithkin Zealot, Ballynock Cohort, and Order of Whiteclay. His draw didn't really do much, and Prison Term slowed him down further. He tried to hang on with Puncture Bolt and Jaws, and even ripped Fire at Will to hang on at three life. Rune-Cervin finished him shortly thereafter.
In both matches against mono Red decks I sided out the Seedcradle Witch for Medic, Kithkin Zealot, and better defensive cards.
Overall the draft went really well, and I was glad I took Liege over Cohort second pick, as mono White definitely turned out better than mono Red would've been in this draft.
Until tomorrow...
Nick
