P1P1 – I think you could possibly justify taking Magma Spray here but I decided to experiment a bit and take the bigger commitment.
P1P2 – This is almost certainly unorthodox. I’ve seen multiple players play this guy and draw into Soul’s Fire for the win. I decided to hop in right away since the card also combos well with Jund Charm.
P2P1 – This was a super tough pick. I had to take the Pinger to go with the two Connoisseurs.
P2P3 – I think most people would take Stinger here and that’s probably fine. I also think the way to win with BGR is to Devour up a huge guy and then dome them with Soul’s Fire.
P3P3 – I went from wanting to take Jund Charm here to wanting to take Bone Splinters before I ended up going with Gharial. Jund Charm isn’t right because it kills all of my guys and +2/+2 isn’t that great. Bone Splinters isn’t right because I’d rather have another an untargetable guy that fits better with my overall strategy.
Somehow after all that setting up to play Realm Razer and Naya Charm in pack three, I decided it wasn’t worth messing up the manabase when all 23 cards in the deck were already insane in only 3 colors.

Round 1 I played against an actual five-color Obelisk control deck. Game 1 I had a fast draw and felt confident in the game until he played Cruel Ultimatum and Kiss of the Amesha on back-to-back turns. After that he played some large monster for the win. Game 2 I got a turn 4 Algae Gharial online which eventually grew to 10/10. I played a bunch of fatties this game, and was also holding Resounding Thunder for the kill if I ever drew an 8th land. Instead I played more guys and got him to 2 life and just Bolted him out normally. Game 3 was long and crazy and ended with me comboing off with Thunder-Thrash Viashino and Soul’s Fire to deal exactly 13 for the win.
Round 2 was against UBR. Game he had a good draw with Sedris, but I held him off and somehow sneaked out a win by overwhelming him and then Resounding Thundering to finish it. Game 2 I had a sick draw and Corpse Connoisseur basically dominated the game.
In the finals I played against a good RG aggro deck, and my manabase finally caught up to me in both games. I was either short on land or colorscrewed in both games ,and he took me out pretty easily.
Until tomorrow...
