P1p2 Despite having a Stinger, Magma Spray is less of a commitment than Blood Cultist.
P1p3 I considered Dragger, but I find that Naya usually serves me better. The Dragger ended up wheeling, so no big loss.
P1p4 As much as I dislike Infest, it is a good signal that Black is probably open.
P1p6 Interesting…
P3p3 This was close between the Capsule and the Fodder, but removal is removal.
Round 1 versus Grixis/Esper
G1 I soon find out that I am playing against a deck pretty much devoid of Infest-able creatures. He keeps killing my guys with Agony Warps and such, and I am forced to make unfavorable trades such as Skeletonize plus Infest to kill his Bull Cerodon. Eventually all the cards catch up to me, and an unanswered Steelclad Serpent or some such beater does the trick. Man, Infest sucks.
G2 This game is disturbingly similar to the first, except that he has an Elspeth for the latter half of the game. I can’t really break through, and eventually die to a Bull Cerodon lifted by the Elspeth.
So, that’s all the triple-A action on Drafting With LSV. My column article next week will be rounding out all I learnt from the experience, and I’ll be back when Conflux hits Magic Online.
Enjoy the prerelease! Until next time…
