Alex Bertoncini is your Legacy Open champion! The master of Merfolk has proven himself a worthy leader in the Player of the Year race with a championship finish. It looked like Gerry might overtake Alex this weekend but after a Top 8 Standard Open finish Gerry fell just short in the final Legacy Rounds. That gave Alex the opportunity he needed to seize the lead and level up earning a trophy in the process. His victory came over AJ Sacher a grinder who has now achieved the vaunted Level 5 in our Player’s Club. In other news the Standard Open was won earlier this morning by Valakut pilot Joey Mispagel in a victory over Edgar Flores and his Caw-Blade deck. Edgar pulled off a third Standard Top 8 in a row and also managed to make the elimination rounds of the Legacy event on Sunday earning Level 5 in just three weeks—what a grinder! SCGLive will be in Dallas this weekend so to see the next hot developments in Magic’s premier Constructed formats tune in! Loading Event Photos...
