Disappointing Mishra

J. Rainwater

So just when you thought the metagame was getting stale along comes the best deck you've never seen or heard of. I got sick of playing U/W, Affinity, Gobbos, and LD, and the super powerful Urzatron that main decks Story Circle, but only seven Plains. So I went on a quest to break up the current Standard scene. What I came up with can only be classified as tier 0. It is in a class all by itself trust me. Without getting into specifics right away lets just say there's a lot of 100% in my play testing results, and trust me I'm on the winning side of all of them.

After several hours of meditation, it dawned on me that there was a super powerful tribe out there that's not getting the attention it deserves. You guessed it Myr. Wow these things are powerful. Some of them can actually produce mana! I realized right away with a full compliment of these"mana" Myr, as I like to call them, I don't need to have any land in the deck at all. (Everyone playing LD might as well just scoop now and save yourself some time.) The rest of these Myr have power beyond anything you've ever witnessed. Myr Adapter, for example, gets +1/+1 for each Equipment attached to it. I mean come on, if that card's not broken, I don't know what is. (If I had some Equipment in this deck that card would be explosive.) That's just a glimpse of the power within this mighty deck. If you think your ready for the true power of Myr, then prepare yourself for the deck list:

Strangest Tribe
4 Copper Myr
4 Leaden Myr
4 Iron Myr
4 Silver Myr
4 Gold Myr
4 Alpha Myr
4 Myr Adapter
4 Lodestone Myr
4 Myr Matrix
4 Myr Incubator
4 Omega Myr
4 Myr Prototype
4 Myr Retriever
4 Myr Mindservant

Sideboard
2 Sacred Ground (this wins games trust me)
4 Weathered Wayfarer (no explanation necessary)
2 Story Circle (how can you lose with this card in your deck?)
4 Leonin Abunas

Well that's the deck. Take a second and soak it all in. Hard to believe I'm the first one to see the power of the Myr. You'll notice that every card has the word Myr in the title. Now that tells you right away that this deck beats Affinity every time. We'll get into playtest results later though. Here is a breakdown of the cards I chose. [you might notice the deck has only 56 cards - that's because that's all it needs to beat down on every deck ever made!]

Copper, Leaden, Iron, Silver, Gold Myr
Okay, these guys produce colored mana or they can team up and lay a beatdown!

Alpha Myr
Do I even need to say anything about this card? I mean a 2/1 for two mana... enough said.

Myr Adapter
This is another one that should be obvious. First of all it's a Myr, and if that's not enough, as we discussed earlier it gets +1/+1 for each piece of Equipment attached to it.

Lodestone Myr
I wasn't sure about this one, but since he does have myr in his name I went ahead and included him anyway. (I almost went with Myr Enforcer instead, but lets face it, the Affinity mechanic is highly overrated, and I personally don't think it's going to make it into any serious decks.)

Myr Matrix
This is what makes the deck really beatdown hard. I know your saying this card isn't even out yet, but I know a guy at wizards and he got me four copies of this card. Wizards also authorized me to use it in tournament play!

Myr Incubator
Watch out, it's raining Myr. This card hits play and people just scoop!

Omega Myr
This guy is a brick house. I'd like to see Broodstar get past this little defensive monster.

Myr Prototype
Let's see... at the beginning of your turn this guy gets +1/+1, I mean come on. This is another example of a clearly broken card.

Myr Retriever
If one of my Myr gets killed (this never happens), then this little guy can just tap and bring them back to life!

Myr Mindservant
This is the best card in Magic history. Two and Tap, and you get to play your opponent's next two turns. No one can stop you once this guy hits the table.

Well now that I've convinced you that these are the best cards ever printed, lets take a look at some playtest results. (Note: no actual games of Magic were physically played to obtain these results, but I promise the results are accurate. If you don't believe me just test it yourself!)

Strangest Tribe vs. Affinity 100%
Like I said earlier, every card in this deck has the word myr in its title, so how could you lose to Affinity? Myr Enforcer is helpless against you, and Broodstars might as well stay home, as they have no chance of doing any damage against you.

Strangest Tribe vs W/U control 100%
There is a little known rule I believe its 420.66.3 that states, and I quote"Wrath of God and Akroma's Vengeance don't effect Myr." With that said, how can you lose to this deck. Exalted Angel isn't worth playing, and W/U control has no other threats.

Strangest Tribe vs MWC (the Urzatron/Story Circle version, a.k.a. Crapia Control) 100%
This is perhaps the toughest match-up for the deck. If your opponent can get a Story Circle on the board, you might be in trouble. I suggest ignoring the effects of Story Circle and just counting the damage anyway.

Strangest Tribe vs R/G LD 100%
As we all know, the only point of LD is too destroy every land you put on the table. Well guess what? This deck has no land! Not only that, I'm packing two Sacred Ground in the sideboard. With two, I'm guaranteed a turn 2 or a turn 1 Sacred Ground in every game, and that means LD might as well scoop.

Strangest Tribe vs. RDW 100%
This is a match-up I think you'll see a lot of in the coming Standard season, especially after Dark Steel. Lucky for me, I cant lose to this deck. Just draw seven and then proceed to beat down.

Strangest Tribe vs. Every Other Deck Ever Conceived, (You Guessed It) 100%.
I've played zero games with this deck and I've never lost a single game to anyone. Looks Like every one's going to be competing for second best or finding something else to do with their time cause I can't lose.

Here is a tip on playing the deck. You don't have any land, so when your opponent looks the other way just slip a few of your"mana" myr on the board and you're off to the races. Side note for those of you playing Magic Online: this is a difficult move to pull off online, but hang in there, it can be done, and as we all know, once your Myr hit the table, it's beatdown time.

Well that was good times wasn't it folks. This was not meant to be an attack on any one in particular, it has been in the works for a while. In the words of the great writers of our time,"If you don't believe me just test it yourself (that way I don't have to)."
