Unfortunately, MTGO crashed in the middle of the draft, and I can't rememebr what happened in round 1. Thankfully, I won. I hope this is okay.
Round 2: U/W/r
Game 1: I mulliganed to six, and my new cards were five lands and Dreamscape Artist. I kept... and my first draw was Intet, the Dreamer! My opponent played a Cryptic Annelid, and a Voidstone Gargoyle (naming Intet). On my next turn, I attacked with Intet and paid three mana for the ability. At the time, my hand was Arc Blade, Leaden Fists, and one land. Intet revealed my Firemaw Kavu. I should've played that, but I got greedy. I thought I could play Kavu next turn to kill one of the bigger guys in tandem with Arc Blade, and then use it to kill a second guy when I didn't pay the echo. So I passed my turn. Of course, my opponent bounced Intet with Reality Strobe. My next draw was a Slipstream Serpent. My opponent made a morph, then Dismal Failure took out my Arc Blade (targeting the morph).
I added an Emberwilde Auger to the table, and attacked with the Serpent. HE blocked with Cryptic Annelid, and then the Strobe returned the following turn. He made a Prodigal Pyromancer and a Clockwork Hydra, attacked with the Voidstone Gargoyle, and passed the turn. At this point, the life totals were 14 (me) and 7 (him).
I drew Volcanic Hellion, and shot his Hydra (paying 4 life, as I could mana burn down to pay the echo). I attacked with my Augur and my Dreamscape Artist. His untapped creatures were a morph and a Prodigal Pyromancer with summoning sickness. He blocked the Artist, so I played Leaden Fists on my Augur. My opponent was now on two life, and I had an Emberwilde Augur in play. He didn't have an answer, and conceded.
Game 2: My opponent's first action was to suspend a Reality Strobe. The following turn, I made a morph (Fledgling Mawcor). He passed turn 4, and Dismal Failured my Aetherflame Wall. The then dropped a morph, a Clockwork Hydra, and a Voidstone Gargoyle, but I handled them all. Flowstone Embrace took out the morph, Leaden Fists handled his Hydra, and Firemaw KAvu plus Sulfur Elemental killed his Gargoyle. I had two more removal spells in hand, and the game was over.
I split the finals.
Until tomorrow,
Kenji
