Rules Tip of the Day: Don't be a rules lawyer. At low REL events it is possible and preferable to correct a opponent's mistakes while teaching an opponent the proper way to play without being rude. The rules exist for fair play, not so you can berate or intimidate an opponent.
Q: Does Paralectric Feedback target a spell or the spell's controller? If my opponent has Ivory Mask in play, does the Feedback still damage him (because it targets the spell), or is it illegal (because it targets the spell's controller)?
A: It targets the spell, not the spell's controller. You can target a spell controlled by a player who controls an Ivory Mask with Parallectric Feedback in order to deal damage to that player.
Q: With Eye of the Storm in play, I cast Sins of the Past and target an Early Harvest. When I play the Early Harvest, would I get to play the Sins of the Past again (via the Eye) and target another card in the graveyard, which would also trigger Early Harvest and repeat the process?
A: Yes that does work. Each time a spell is played, Eye of the Storm will remove it from the game and put a copy of it on the stack. So the card that was targeted by Sins of the Past, and the Sins of the Past itself, will not go to the graveyard, and therefore cannot be removed from the game.
Q: During play testing, I cast Wildfire while my opponent had Transluminant in play. Can you stack damage from the Wildfire and then sacrifice Transluminant to make the token? No one in my play group could decide if it worked or not, but one soul suggested that since Wrath of God destroys everything, it would be the same effect.
A: First of all, the damage from Wildfire does not go on the stack as a separate item. It is dealt when Wildfire resolves. The only damage that goes on the stack and resolves as assigned is combat damage. However, the token creature created by the Transluminant's ability will survive, as it is not put into play until the beginning of the next end of turn step. By that time, the Wildfire will have completely resolved.
Q: I have True Believer in play and my opponent taps Forbiddan Orchard. Do I get the token, and does she get the mana?
A: Your opponent will get the mana, but you will not get any 1/1 tokens. This is because when your opponent taps this land for mana, the Orchard's triggered ability will trigger and go on the stack. However, there is not a legal target for this ability, so it will fall off of the stack and do nothing. The fact that no one ends up getting the token Spirits does not mean that the ability can not be used.
Q: Could Godless Shrines count towards the effects of Hondens—increasing the "number of shrines" in play?
A: No. It may have the word "Shrine" in its name, but the effect from the Kamigawa Hondens only counts other enchantments with the subtype of Shrine.
Q: If I control Teferi's Puzzle Box and I use Plagiarize at the beginning of my opponent's turn, will the Plagiarize cause my opponent to lose all his cards in hand?
A: Yes, that is exactly what happens. When Teferi's Puzzle Box's ability resolves, your opponent's current hand will go to the bottom of his library and you will draw cards equal to the number of cards he put down there. This is because the Plagiarize only changes the draw portion of the Puzzle Box's effect, it doe not change who puts their hand on the bottom of their library.
Q: My opponent has no lands in play; does my Fellwar Stone produce no mana or colorless mana?
A: Your Fellwar Stone will be unable to produce any mana. 'Colorless' is not a color, so even if all of your opponent's lands could only produce colorless mana (i.e. he controlled only Urza's lands) your Fellwar Stone would not be able to generate any mana.
Q: I am about to hold a Standard Two-Headed Giant tournament and I have read the rules for it. I can't figure out how Erayo, Sorotami Ascendant will work in this format. The question I have is, once she is flipped, will her ability affect both opponents on the opposing team? Or will her ability only affect the first spell played by the opposing team?
A: The ability of a flipped Erayo will counter the first spell played by each player on the opposing team. Both of the individual players on the opposing team are your opponents; any effect that is applied to your opponents will affect both of them individually.
Q: How would Ensnaring Bridge work in Two-Headed Giant? Is it equal to the number of cards in both player's hands or just the player in control of Ensnaring Bridge?
A: Ensnaring Bridge's effect only cares about the cards in the hand of the controller of the Ensnaring Bridge. Keep in mind that as the team is attacked, not individual players, that any creature that can not attack the player with Ensnaring Bridge will not be able to attack the opposing team at all.
